Natural Shampoo Bar 80g by PureChimp - Foamy Magic - Nourishing & Moisturising - Banana/Vanilla

I have thick hair which tends to get greasy at the roots and very dry at the ends. I really wanted to like this shampoo bar but this shampoo bar really does feel like it cleans out your hair completely whilst eventually leaving a strange waxy feeling to the roots once your hair is dry. I'm a big fan of anything that smells like banana but the shampoo bar I received didn't smell like banana at all. I think there is the slightest whiff of banana but it's a very... Very weak smell so that was disappointing. After I brushed my hair, I noticed a thin film of white residue on my brush, which I had never noticed before on my brush. I don't use apple cider vinegar rinses on my hair... I really do just want to wash my hair and go, so I don't really appreciate having to take extra steps in my hair washing routine, such as having to use something like an apple cider vinegar rinse to get rid of the residue.I bought a shampoo bar from another company and haven't had the same problem with residue so maybe Pure Chimp should look at their ingredients and try to find a way of lessening the residue? I can see from other reviewers here that I'm not the only person with the residue and waxy problem from this shampoo bar.I think this shampoo bar would work ok with people who don't mind the extra step of apple cider vinegar rinses after shampooing.

I haven't used a soap bar before as I thought it might not lather enough, but this was actually pretty good.I don't use silicones or sulfates in my hair at the moment, so I didn't need to rinse my hair with vinegar beforehand as some shampoo bar's recommendI wet my hair and the bar then rubbed it around my scalp in a circular motion, it bubbled a lot and I was able to then wash all of my hair, it is quite long. The smell is lovely and it felt very clean and nice after rinsing. Then used my normal conditioner and my hair looked shiny and healthy.Sadly after using this bar for a couple of weeks I noticed my scalp getting greasy really quickly, I used to be able to go 2-3 days between washes but realised if I left a day it was looking super greasy at the roots. I put more effort into rinsing hoping this would solve it but noticed my hair just looking a bit lank. Switched back to my old shampoo once and it looks a million times better. Like the oils were building up slowly but I didn't notice. Won't be buying again which I'm disapointed about because it seemed like a great product at first.

I was very apprehensive to try shampoo bars as I've read some pretty bad reviews in general but decided to give this one a try. The first time I used this I ended up washing my hair with normal shampoo because the bar left my hair feeling so sticky after I rinsed out the lather. I read up on how to use it and followed the directions I saw online and the results were much better. I lathered really well and rinsed with diluted apple cider vinegar which gets rid of any sticky feeling. A thick leather was easy to get and the scent was pleasant. I didnt rinse with water after the vinegar rinse and there was no lasting vinegar smell. I let my hair dry naturally and it looked more wavy than usual probably because it wasn't weighed down with additives. I can straighten and style as usual and use a very small amount of coconut oil on my ends to moisturize. Can't wait to get rid of all the plastic bottles in the bathroom!

So I ordered this because I had searched for banana shampoo. This product came up and ticked alot of feel good boxes, natural, vegan... Foamy. Well, its certainly foamy, it really lathes up brilliantly, and when washing my hair, it genuinely made my hair feel clean. My hair almost squeaked as I washed it out.I let my hair dry naturally, and as it was drying I could tell that this product wouldn't be used again. My hair had no shine, softness and almost felt dry, moreover, it didn't smell of anything, especially banana's.Now I am a natural ginger, I've never died my hair and I rarely ever style. My hair isn't damaged. But this shampoo made it feel damaged.I apologise for such a negative review, you have the basis for a good product that is ethical and I would say cost effective. But it just doesn't work for my hair.

So brilliant customer service.Firstly, the packaging (which I'm told they're changing): very understated, simple matt black paper with a sticker for product name and ingredients.Ingredients: three different oils! Beer and banana, nothing else listed.The bar is a smooth dome that smells like real banana, and when it's wet it feels very slippery - that would be all those oils! It doesn't make much lather but it will foam up a bit when you rub it on your hair. Some people have recommended not putting this directly on your hair but if I did - I rubbed the bar down the lengths of my hair and then with the foam this produced massaged my scalp and hair. Immediately after washing out the shampoo, my hair didn't feel very nice - very similar to when it's washed with rubbish hand soap (if you've ever been stupid like me and tried that).Out of the shower my hair is incredibly easy to brush! No tangles at all, really nice. It dries a bit fluffy but I added hair oil afterwards (usually I do this even when using shampoo and conditioner). My hair feels soft and remains tangle free until I wash it again 2-3 days later.I also used this on my legs prior to shaving because of all the oils - it was great, no snags or cuts. Lovely!The only downside I can find with this product is the feeling of hair before it dries.
