Scandinavian Design: BU (Bibliotheca Universalis)

I bought this after accidentally developing a new interest in mid century furniture. Nice book which should be of interest to anyone with a passing interest in this era of products. Lots of good pictures.I now own several pieces of mid century furniture which I love.The only slight criticism I have is that the text is quite small and can be difficult to read.

As well as an introduction to design in the various countries of Scandinavia, the bulk of the book is an alphabetical directory/encyclopaedia of leading designers and companies. Super quality illustrations, and highly recommended, though I'm not sure what the significance of the 25th anniversary edition is, as it is a 2002 edition reprinted in 2005.

Excellent book full of great information, good value. To really get to the origins of Scandinavian design one has to see all sources of the look. This book gives this and more. Great for the student and general interest alike.

Lots of photos. so you get a good idea of the style. Lots of good information also.

Packed with short descriptions and photos of designers' of the mid-century, easy reference.

Just what I wanted. Full of those iconic (over-used word but true here) designs we see so regularly and accept, now, as every-day pieces.

I already knew a bit of Scandinavian design but this book has taught me more.
