This movie is an alternate retelling of the AnoHana: The Flower We Saw That Day TV series. Jintan, Menma, Anaru, Yukiatsu, Tsuruko, and Poppo - six grade-school students who were the best of friends. As the "Super Peace Busters," they always played together at their "secret base" until Menma died in a tragic accident. Five years later, Menma appeared before Jintan, now a high school freshman. No one could see her but Jintan, and Menma told him that she wanted the Super Peace Busters to grant her a certain wish. But not even Menma herself remembered what that wish was. Having been traumatized by Menma's death, the five had drifted apart, but after giving vent to their bottled-up feelings in an emotionally-charged moment, they gradually went back to being the "gang" of years past. And then Menma said goodbye, leaving letters to everyone of the Super Peace Busters. One year later - once again, they gather at their secret base, each of them with a

Menma's Last Wish
Anohana: The Flower We Saw That Day, or just simply 'Anohana', is one of my favorite anime. It chronicles the life of shut in Jinta 'Jintan' Yadomi, whom, after being visited by the ghost of his childhood friend, Menma, sets out to find his old gang that disbanded three years prior due to Menma's passing. This is because Menma wants them all to fufil her last wish.Let me just start by saying that this is the only anime to have ever made me cry, and I don't usually cry at most things. The animation, coupled with the lush landscapes and vivid colors, is really fantastic, especially since it's from A-1 Pictures. The music is amazing too, with there being one standout track that Anohana fans like myself know as 'the song that plays at all of the sad parts' aka Secret Base.Aesthetically, it's beautiful. Now, here's where in order to take off, Anohana had to really, REALLY shine. The characters:Jintan: A lonely shut-in that reminds me of myself, he only does things he absolutely positively has to do (see that guy from Hyouka or Shinji from Evangelion) and is just a general emotional klutz.Menma: Where do I even begin? She takes cuteness to a whole new level and in turn is one of the best characters in the series. Her hyperactive, child-like sense of adventure really gives the series a feel of sadness, as not everyone is as adventurous as Menma anymore.Chiriko: Definitely one of the colder characters in the series, she was very affected by Menma's death but, like her counterpart Yukiatsu, refuses to show it and keeps it bottled up. She looks down on Jintan in every aspect, be it school, or just his attitude in general. However, as the series progresses, we see that she isn't always so cold.Anaru: The cheerleader archetype of the series, and she may just hate Jintan more than anything. She, like the rest of the group excluding Poppo, refuses to believe that Menma is indeed back from the dead. She's one of the biggest downers I have ever come across in any anime I've seen, but she isn't like that forever...Yukiatsu: Ah, this is where I have to watch out for spoilers. Yukiatsu is Chiriko's partner, and he's very...quiet, up until episode 4. And, like Forrest Gump once famously said...that's all I have to say about that.Poppo: Now, this is what you would get if I was larger and had a tan. Poppo is a complete man-child. He is the only one of the group except for Jintan who immediately believes that Menma has come back from the grave. He's very happy to hear this but he gets frustrated because he cannot hear or see her, but that all changes. In short, Anohana is one of the most well written dramas in anime, I have seen well over 100 anime and I've yet to see one that captures the child-like feel of adventure like Anohana did, and I am very happy to see it get the release it deserves- on Blu Ray.

The english dub performances were great.
The quality of the english dub was amazing, the art book had some nice illustrations, and the bloopers were very amusing. Overall I'm very happy with my purchase.

Great as expected, however there is a large amount of content from the Anime series.
I really enjoyed all the new content and extra clarification on what happens after the Anime Season of Anohana, but I was extremely disappointed in the writers use in previous episode materials, I feel like the anime's contents were re-used FAR too much.*Possible spoilers, scroll down at your own risk*As to be expected of AnoHana since the anime was so cute and a tear fest, expect the same from the movie. Those that have watched the entire anime however may or may not be interested in buying the movie, I would say if you are somebody who was extremely drawn in to the anime and ONLY if you were extremely drawn in and wanted to see more story then pick this up! Even after the movie is over however you will still have some questions that may have been left unanswered, me personally I hope to see more from this series where we get every single answer and outcome without milking the franchise.

This is for fans of Anohana
The movie is basically an epilogue to the TV series' story: 1 year after the original story has ended, the 5 friends get together to write letters to Menma(Honma Meiko). If you're already a fan of the series this can be a nice addition to your collection. On the other hand: If this movie is your first exposure to Anohana, you might have a hard time following the story. The story also relies heavily on flashbacks -- which allows the movie to recycle the scenes from the TV series. My recommendation: Since this movie doesn't add much to the story, you would not miss much if you skipped it (unless you're a diehard fan, that is.)The video and audio quality is excellent. The bonus material is light.

Story is not coherent
Not bad, but the story keeps jumbing back and forth so I get lost and could not understand a thing.
