Like a birdhouse (a compliment for real)
No wonder this shoe rack polarizes opinion. I had low expectations, but this item has exceeded those by a wide margin. First of all packaging is a simple light box - just multiply dimensions of a shelf 4 times. To assemble I unpacked my DIY bag, then the shelf. No instruction, but easy to figure out how to assemble. I expected the shelf to be very slanted, something that would fall down on its own. No such thing. Good size for shoes and floor included you get 5 surfaces. Buy a wood treatment from IKEA ("behandla") for 4.70 if you want to add to its looks. Some people have suggested glue. If I attempted to disassemble the shelf and put it together for the 2nd time I probably would use glue. The wood slates look quite flimsy indeed; I think the shelf may not survive your child trying to sit on it or running into it with a scooter. But hey, who knows; it has been standing peacefully just inside the entrance for over a month now, carrying a full load of our shoes (3 small boys and mine) and boys are perfectly happy storing shoes there. To be fair maybe in some spaces if they tried to lift the shelf, they might get a splinted, but that is nothing that a little sandpaper and "Behandla" would not fix. So surprisingly stable and has quite ingenious way how to put together. I laughed and shut my DIY bag having not used a single tool. This all reminds of a kind of school birdcage project for year-6es. Surface to price ratio is great, if someone knows better, please do let me know.

Not the most sturdy item
It's bare bones and basic. The wood is untreated VERY thin pine. The uprights are slotted into the shelves via cut notches. There are no fixings. I intend to glue mine, having varnished it this morning. I've now ordered two 36" (915mm) clamps to achieve this. The clamps will have other uses, but I would have done better spending my money on a better product. I attempted to put this together this morning. The legs are notched to connect the shelves. These notches were either too narrow and split the shelf struts, or too shallow preventing a flush fit. In some cases they were both. I am a competent home carpenter with good chisel set. I attemped to chisel out the notches but In spite of everything the shelves broke during the removal of one of the legs. Not a good experience . Avoid this product

Very "delicate" but ultimately serves purpose
I purchased this as a rack to have in my wardrobe to stay out of sight but still do the job so I was not concered with this rack looking "attractive", just its functionality. It arrived very promptly in good Amazon packaging. I will admit that the wood is flimsy and that one should be delicate assembling the item; despite being careful, it still only took 5-10 minutes to assemble and if you "wiggle" the wooden joints the four supports go in easier. The wood is cheap and there is a danger of splinters. However, once assembled it stood firmly and level on the floor and there is plenty of room for several pairs of shoes on all of the shelves. To summarise: despite being formed of slightly flimsy wood, this shoe rack does exactly what it is intended to do, especially if you wish to store this out of sight and are careful when assembling. If you wish for something to be more "public" within your home then I would recommend going with another product..

Excellent for the price!
Good product, easy to assemble. Very lightweight, probably won’t last forever but superb for my purposes as a shoe rack unsure a closet.

Highly rated, unduly slated.
I really can't understand what all the fuss is about. For a sub £10 show rack this is brilliant. This arrived within the expected delivery window. When I shook it, I was surprised there didn't sound to be any screws. What a bonus, no tools required! Laying it out on the kitchen floor, it didn't take long to work out where everything goes. All in all, took no more than five minutes to put together and felt sufficiently solid for its purpose. Bonus number two, it fits absolutely perfectly in our understairs cupboard. It was not bought for its looks, but it is perfectly functional and when hidden away and loaded with shoes, that's not much money well spent. The only negative I ought to warn you about, is this is not the shoe rack for you if were planning to sit on the top shelf while you plop your shoes on. But you didn't really expect that for this price. Did you?

Very unstable
This item did not come with instructions- but then it isn't rocket science to work out how the bits fit together. I saw it did not come with any screws and thought 'this could be bad, or it could be quite good...'. Unfortunately, it was a bad thing. The size of the slot-together bolts were not right and so all of the pieces didn't go together- one of them didn't have a long enough screw and so isn't actually attached on one side. It's rather unstable and would easily fall apart. But, luckily, it is only a shoe rack and sits by the door- so if it fell apart- nothing would be damaged. I think this product is rather over-priced for something that isn't well constructed at all. It would be easier to include screws or something- it'd take longer to assemble- but at least it would feel like it wasn't going to collapse!

Good quality for the price
I am very happy with this product. It is exactly as described. It comes in a flat package without instructions but it is very easy to assemble. The wood is pretty light (and so the whole shoe rack) and it at first it concerned me if it was durable enough. However, I have been using it for over a month - on the top shelf we keep both men's and women's boots which are over the ankle as they do not fit on any other level (though you could push them in and they would fit - I do not want to bend the leather of my shoes), each level fits 3 pairs of shoes and it stands just fine and it is not wobbly at all once shoes are on it. Maybe the only minus I could notice is that the rack is not wide enough for bigger sized shoes and when it stands close to the wall the shoes will touch the wall and stain it. I solved it by putting a cardboard between the wall and rack and it works just fine. Overall I am very happy with this purchase.

Do NOT buy
Yes I hate it. Durable is how its described. It wont even fit together! The spindles don't have the screws in the right place. When you try to screw into the "shelves" the "rawl plugs" in the shelves just twist out. The wood the shelves are made of is like balsar wood. It looks nothing like as durable in the picture. Its only good for firewood... and kindling at that! I thought £12 was too good to be true... I was right. Gave up construction after two shelves on their own wouldnt stand up. Cant imagine all four shelves standing up on their own... let alone actually putting shoes on it. Will attempt to return it. Disgusted with this product. Don't buy!
