Handy size for Abu Dhabi
This is a great bag size book. It took us to all kinds of nice places ...Al Mina Fish Market and the Dhow Harbour. We were staying down at Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque but the large map at the back didn't really extend down there. Now, here's the thing. We bought this in good faith from a large book shop in UK in December 2018. The guide for the Louvre Abu Dhabi reads: "Rumoured to open at the end 0f 2015..." which indicates the guide is quite possibly four years old. This is a long time in a fast moving city. 2015 is in tiny letters at the back of the guidebook. How can guide books ensure that the bookshops aren't selling out-of-date guidebooks? There were of course still very relevant aspects but a lot has happened in the city since the guide was published. The Louvre you will be pleased to know is absolutely amazing, wonderfully original architecture and a brilliant collection that takes you through human civilisation and culture since the year dot right up to the modern day.

A readable and interesting guide to the highlights
This 160-page book - the 1st (print) edition of September 2015 - is an interesting and readable guide to the capital city of the United Arab Emirates, which sits on an island off the eastern shore of the Arabian Peninsula. This is a well-designed and presented guide, with useful maps. It is a pocket-sized guide, being approximately 6” by 4 ¼”, with a fold-out map inside the back cover. It has a much more concentrated layout than the full-size Lonely Planet volumes, and concentrates on the city itself. This is not a glossy guide with lots of colour pictures, but it is well-designed and laid out, with colour illustrations used as part of the design, not to fill up gaps or break up blocks of small-print.The Contents areP007: Quick Start Guide (introduction to the city)P021: Explore Abu Dhabi (sections on 6 districts - Al Markaziyah, Breakwater & around, Al Zahiya (Tourist Club Area), Al Mina & Saadiyat Island, Sheikh Zayed Grand Mosque & around, Yas Island & around - each with a thorough description and mini-guide, plus 2 other locations highlighted for detailed study)P123: Best of Abu Dhabi (things to see, places to shop, eat and drink, etc.)P143: Survival Guide (getting there, getting around, language, “Essential Information”)P154: IndexNOTE that being a “pocket” guide, this is for carrying around for quick reference to the highlights; for detailed study of the location, one of the bigger and more detailed guides is recommended.
