Best one I've owned
A furnace that works well in my opinion. The first thing I did was layer the cotton, not to let the fibers come off. Melt copper easily using two burners. A 12kg container is excessive, haha. You will be surprised how much copper it contains. The clamp isn't too bad. I recommend getting a better set for lifting and pouring. Also get a large stainless steel spoon to remove slag in between adding more copper. I tried using what I had and either it melted or the copper stuck to it. Gently heat the new container then leave it to cool completely overnight then it is ready to use. I poured a few bars on the first day with a 3kg graphite mold I bought separately.

DANGEROUS!! Inadequate heating. Burner will cause explosion. DO NOT BUY!
EDIT: I tried refactor, changing the regulator, etc. This is a complete piece of dangerous junk and I will be throwing it away. The Venturi burner does not aspirate enough air. The nozzle is inadequate. The burner pipe heats up. The parts burn easily. It is a catastrophe waiting to happen. Find something better. It is built well enough. It doesn't get hot enough to melt copper, With the 12 kilogram graphite crucible. I am going to try to treat the fiberglass insulation with refractory cement. I might need to take apart the burner and look at the nozzle. It uses an ACME (right-handed) propane regulator on the Venturi-style burner. Usually these types of burners use POL regulators, which use the left-handed threading on a propane tank, and allow for higher propane flow rates. But, I'm going to see if the refractory works first before changing the regulator. One risk of using a POL regulator is too much propane, which would create improper fuel/air and possibly an explosion risk. As others state, the connection between the pipe and the body glows red and will create a fail point and a possible dangerous situation. I'm going to see if I can get some fiberglass in that connection to protect it. I'll update the review after I finish. Update: I coated the inside fiberglass insulation with refractory cement. It heats up better now. The Venturi burner has a nozzle that is easily kicked out of place if you were to twist it. And it's easily twisted, due to thermal expansion. If you look at the video that I posted, look at how the paint is burning off of the burner pipe. I think this thing will work if I use a carefully. If you do not know what you're doing with combustible gases, do not buy this product. Update #2: with the refractory cement, the large crucible, after 3 hours of heating on full, it still did not get hot enough to melt about 5 lb of copper. However, the housing of the body of the unit held up well to the heat and the crucible is very nice. The burner using the ACME connection doesn't put out enough power (BTU/min, KW) I am going to build a Venturi burner using a POL regulator, which will burn a larger amount of propane per minute. However, I do not trust the pipe or the nozzle on the original burner for this task. So, I am retrofitting it with better material. I will need to pay very close attention to the temperature of the body and the exhaust hole on the lid for this application. I consider this a salvage operation. I will maintain the 2-star rating because the body has adequate construction, the graphite-clay crucible is very nice. But the heat output is not good for large crucibles, the tongs are junk, and the gloves provide inadequate heat protection for these temperatures. If you are smithing small amounts of metals such as silver, gold, aluminum, and copper, it might work for you. The price point is fair for what you get.

Beginners kit for smelting
This kit comes with mostly everything you need to get started with smelting. Some of the items could be a bit better quality, but for an intro kit, it seems fine. Shows you everything you need to get started and maybe get better quality items later if you want.

Wow, i am just amazed with this product. Only after i bought it did i notice a few reviews where paint was peeling off, and their tubes were glowing red hot. i got worried, but i tested the product, and it performed beyond my expectations. i can just say that if you're new at this, please use caution! read about propane combustion (and incomplete combustion). learn about oxygen intake, and get to know the sounds you should expect to hear. i found that if your starting pressure is too low, the flame can backtrack into the tube. if this happens, the paint will flake off because there's no insulation in the tube. so if you're starting the furnace, and you hear a high pitched whistling noise, CLOSE THE TANK IMMEDIATELY. you should have a low sounding roar, with a blue flame coming OUT of the tube, not inside the tube. the instructions aren't completely clear on this, but ive found that you can avoid the whistling sound if you start with a slightly higher pressure than 10PSI, and block the air intake partially with your gloved fingers until the initial lighting. the kit comes with everything shown in the pictures, and is adequate in quality for the price.
