Are these any good for sleeping with? I'm a side sleeper btw

I have used these in bed every night for years. I hardly know I have them on. About every 5-6 months the wire wears out at the earpiece I usually sleep on. At this price still worth it. Also, sound quality very good for the price

is this unit mono and does it fit the R ear

To say that "stereo is backwardly compatible with mono" is only half right (if you'll excuse the pun). The headphones are stereo, and if you listen to a mono source using them you'll only get sound out of the right unit because that's what mono is - single channel. You won't get a mono signal duplicated into both ears because the mono output is missing the pin to make contact with the left carrier - the plug tip.

Are these suitable for travelling or will they annoy the person in the seat next to me?

I haven`t had any problems travelling on the tube with them. I hope this helps @:0)
