UPDATE: I had forgotten I set the car to override the trunk latch switch when we had issues with the original latch. Went into the settings and turned it back on and it all works fine! I made sure to connect both harnesses and give each a little tug to ensure they were connected. The key fob, foot sensor, and dashboard button activates the lift and close, but neither button on the actual trunk will activate the lift/close. The button above the license plate unlatches but does not activate the lift. The button on the hatch to close makes a different one than before and does not activate the closing mechanism. Pulled it apart to double check the connections. I think that part of the switch may be broken. Would like to try a new part, but not sure if I need to send this back first. Will update if I get a replacement.
