Castle - Season 7 [DVD]

"Castle, you have no idea..."
I don't normally review shows online but I just felt compelled to with this. Castle Season 7 continues the seemingly effortless success of the previous 6 seasons. If you're in two minds as whether to buy this then don't be. Katic's performance goes from strength to strength whilst Fullion's remains consistent and hilarious as ever. Tangents to the main story line are well constructed and delivered. There are good episodes, there are OK episodes and there are great episodes as ever but the completion of any such episode always left me with a sense of '...I'm just going to watch 5 more minutes before bedtime...' regardlessI initially watched the 1st episode of the 1st season of Castle in a spare moment, courtesy of my Amazon Instant Video subscription and I'm so glad I did. Since then I've watched religiously the 'will they / won't they' antics of Castle and Beckett, laughing, smiling and desperately hoping the whole time for the inevitable union. The funny moments make me laugh out loud, the emotional moments warm the heart and the tense moments keep you wanting for more.Season 7 continues to blend loving and inspiring moments in and around the standard murder/cop show. The closeness between the two main characters is beautifully woven and rationed so as to keep you wanting for more and fulfilled when delivered. Comedy and quips remain in abundance and the performance and delivery is always second-perfect.Finally, the show encourages the viewer to enjoy every moment in life and I recommend the same approach with this show. With 7 seasons under the belt and an 8th already airing, its hard to know how many more the team, network and storyline can sustain. My advice; Watch this, enjoy it, take from it what you can and hope for more of the same and better once season 8 is more widely available (in the UK).What a great show. Can't wait for more.

Generally Good - Blown Up By the Infamous S7 Ending
GAh. What the hell happened to my favourite affable cop series? For seven series until the end of the last one I have enjoyed with a five star rating the lot. Every one was great fun and whilst clearly some episodes were better than others overall I enjoyed them all. Then the last episode of series seven blew it. Properly blew it.Not only that the first one of this series compounded the mess and simply made it worse. How can a major US TV show with writers presumably paid lots of wedge get is so wrong? This was the 'Dallas,' moment. The bit when a series descends into farce - in that case aliens and dreams.I know that many many others feel the same. And the sad thing is that most of the other episodes are the usual fun and enjoyable romps they always were. But the elephant in the room won't go away and it's taken the edge off things. It's almost as if the writers and producers don't want to take the relationship between Beckett and Castle too far and of course need to find a way to slow things down for the sake of future series.Mind you when I say other episodes are generally good, one has to say not all. There are a couple more that skirt very close to the edge of stupid such as the one with the mysterious ancient artefact.Overall, still a good series, but why did the writers have to cock it up so badly? I hope that the next series rescues things.

Mostly excellent
I've loved Castle right from the first episode. This season has all the same, brilliant ingredients: wonderful chemistry between Castle and Becket (despite them now being married), great acting all round, quirky humour, excellent writing (for the most part), return of a serial killer. But I was so disappointed over the opening episode - it was so much like 'and it was all a dream'; such a cop out! Then they walked away from Castle's disappearance for so long that I thought they were going to ignore it altogether, but no, they came back to it. In some ways I wish they hadn't bothered. At least next time I watch the series I could have skipped the first episode. But they decided to try to explain where Castle had been after all. And I don't believe it for a moment - it was such a weak storyline. The season would have been better without it. Hence the loss of a star. But the rest of the season was well up to standard, and I look forward to season 8.

Entertaining low violence thriller.
So far I've only seen the 1st 6 seasons. I'm writing this review under the heading of season 7 because Amazon doesn't allow you to review older items.I got into Castle after being recommended it by a friend. It was not something I expected to enjoy. However, I found that this program manages to walk an entertaining tightrope involving both light comedy and thriller elements. This is very difficult to do, and Castle is by far the best example of this that I have found. There is a small amount of violence, because each programme starts with a murder having been committed. However, after that, there is very little violence, and no blood. I thoroughly enjoyed this aspect, because they made the story interesting and entertaining without all the usual violence. They still managed to build suspense, and there are several very interesting story arcs.Thoroughly recommended. I have enjoyed 6 seasons so far and I'm looking forward to the 7th.

Its a ok season....
What,, not worthy of 5 stars... Yes I'm afraid so.. I really enjoy Castle.Only discovered it about 2 yrs ago.I really love it.But with a heavy heart I have to say that S7 isn't as great fun as all the previous seasons have been. I feel it didn't get good till the 3xk double episode. These were great. Castle at its best. The rest of season was better , but not as fantastic as before. I cant put my finger on it and exactly say what's missing.. Just something, , I hope its just a blip and cant wait for season 8 to arrive on dvd in time for Xmas 2016. Wanna be able to give it 5 stars again...
