Do not waste your money and time on this book
Do not waste your money and time on this book. Absolute garbage that only sounds promising. If you have spent at least a day reading or watching videos on internet about the blockchain, then you already know more than its written in this book. It is sooo basic that I could not believe anyone would even publish it. A very general summary of what most people will already know about blockchain/bitcoin by the time they will decide to invest in a book that supposed to provide more in-depth knowledge about the technology.Would not recommend it to anyone.

Avoid this book
Wish some of the Amazon UK reviews had been here when I ordered instead of the hyped up reviews from the US. This book is truly awful and doesn't do anything other than talk in generalities. It doesn't explain the concepts behind blockchain at all. This level of information (and better) is available through Wikipedia. Find a better book, I wish I had.

Utter crap.
Truly, truly, truly bad.You could put this book together in a week-end with a rudimentary grasp of blockchain and a few fact pulled off Wikipedia. In some places it's barely English. I was utterly shocked that anything so poor could actually make it onto the shelves.

A Helpful Resource On Cryptocurrency Technologies !
"Blockchain: Everything You Need To Know..." by Neil Hoffman is an excellent introductory reference guide which explains the technology clearly. By definition, a blockchain is a form of decentralized database which functions as a ledger to record financial transactions electronically. The blockchain is secured so that authorized users can gain easy access while unauthorized ones are barred from an easy entry. Each block holds all of the important information with regard to the transaction. This technology can facilitate contract negotiations, act as an electronic notary, complete smart contracts, track ownership rights and record events on the Internet of Things (IoT) in real time. A growing Etherum Alliance has the potential to serve as a public ledger. The blockchain technology may be used in cloud computing too. In addition, public records of entire countries may be secured. The blockchain technology can facilitate international trade, limit intermediaries, promote transparency and preclude database alterations but not necessarily complete DB destruction. The technology can be used for electronic voting, as well as, polling.Overall, "Blockchain:Everything You Need To Know About..." by Neil Hoffman is a tremendous resource for understanding an increasingly complex technology. There may be limitations, as exist in current database and cloud technologies. Examples are Acts of G-d, major hurricanes, earthquakes and perhaps extensive sunspot activity. As the technology continues to evolve, the benefits, limitations and unforeseen negations will become more evident.

‘The most important new technology since the creation of the internet’
Chicago author/entrepreneur Neil Hoffman has made a fortune trading bitcoin and cryptocurrencies. An ex-army, an online entrepreneur and a self-taught computer programmer, he loves trading cryptocurrencies and forex and he sees it as having a huge potential to make some serious income. In this book he shares his insights into another leading edge technology – BLOCKCHAIN – a book equally as informative and condensed as Neil’s initial book. For many of us the concept of Blockchain is foreign and understanding that paucity of background information Neil offers the history of this technology: ‘A blockchain is a type of decentralized database that works as a type of ledger for financial transactions. Due to the way it is secured, it is both easy for authorized users to access and very difficult for unauthorized users to access, for reasons that will be explained in detail in the later chapters. As the name implies, a blockchain is made up of individual blocks that each contains unique transaction information as well as information relating to his or her unique place in the chain. Every time a new block is added to a blockchain from an authorized node, that information is then shared with all the other nodes that make up the network after it has been verified. No centralized authority needs to tell the nodes to seek new information. When it comes to security, the blockchain does not take any offensive measures against threats and instead relies on extreme defense to win the day. As transactions need to be verified before they are added to the primary blockchain, any malicious blocks that may be sent will be automatically picked up and discarded before they can infect the whole blockchain. Only when all of its data lines up with at least 51 percent of all other nodes, a new block will be added to the blockchain. While, technically, it is possible to generate enough fabricated cloud to add a fake block to a chain, the resources required to do so are beyond the means of modern hackers and the costs for doing so would outstrip the gains. In addition to storing information, the blockchain automatically timestamps the data which means it is extremely easy to determine when a given transaction took place after the fact. When all of its facets are taken together, it becomes easy to see why blockchains can essentially act autonomously with new blocks being created and assigned, and the whole being policed for errors, without anyone actively stepping in and taking control over any of it.This is the type of language that Neil uses throughout this book – accessible explanations that genuinely teach rather than simply define. In this tone he shares the history of the development of Blockchain, defines and explains how the Blockchain technology works, how it is used in business/media/marketing/property, and securing sensitive data storage. Being the cautious entrepreneur Neil informs us of the pros and cons, the linked aspects of cryptocurrency and blockchain, how to use it, and most important – how to understand it and incorporate it into our thoughts for future use. Full of predictions about how this new technology will affect us, ties book shines a bright light on an unknown arena of thought and technology.Granted the book becomes more complex as the pages turn (as well a guide should!) but stay with Neil and get to understand this inevitable change that is on its way. ‘As blockchain is still such a new technology, there is no telling when new potentially game-changing information is going to emerge which means keeping your ear to the ground is the only way to actually ensure that you are not caught off guard.’ This is a near definitive introduction to a concept we all must learn. And Neil Hoffman is an exemplary guide! Grady Harp, October 17

I don't like giving a totally negative review but this book is ...
I don't like giving a totally negative review but this book is so bad, I cannot in good conscience say nothing. The book is poorly written, with numerous grammatical errors. It is poorly organized and worse yet, factually inaccurate. For example, the section that describes Bitcoin Transactions is completely off the mark, and is fundamental to understanding the technology. The author clearly cobbled together bits of information freely available on the Internet with little understanding of the technical material. As a $0.99 ebook, it would be disappointing, but as a $20.00 tome, it is highway robbery. My copy is going back to Amazon.

If you are to go the cryptocurrency way like Bitcoin, it is a must to read about Blockchain too
If you are to go the cryptocurrency way like Bitcoin, it is a must to read about Blockchain too. It is hard to get around the database without knowing the basics first. This is a handy guide. Better than the ones I already bought and read about Blockchain. Beware of the technical words but anyway, the author tries to explain in simple English so readers easily understand what a thing is for.
