Very worthwhile read
Some negative reviews seem to have not actually read the book, but have latched on to one minor point or another to try to discredit it. Actually the origins of the authorship are quite clearly and convincingly explained. Yes, it is a new translation and all the better for it. Shamballah is a fascinating idea, found in different guises in many Eastern philosophies from Tibetan Bon, to Buddhism, to 10th Century Russian sources. Blavatsky's account is of an inner plane experience of it, with a Rosicrucian and Alchemical flavour. Since she is describing an inner, out of body, experience., it is focused on spiritual values and perspectives rather than on geography and the existence of a physical plane Shamballah isn't really implied by the account. It is a fascinating read tho for anyone interested in esoteric philosophy and the history of the evolution of ideas. The description of the genesis of the book, and of the influence of Blavatsky's work, that can be read for free on the Amazon page promoting the book, is also interesting and if you read both this review and that commentary you will likely think the purchase price very worthwhile.

A Deeply Esoteric Work
This must be from HPB's early days, as she seems to ask some fairly basic questions for the Esoteric titan she later became. The answers to those questions however, are worthy of any Theosophical treatise; they are deeply mystical in nature and in no way dumbed down for a neophyte (well a bit). After years of reading Theosophical works, I found this a very valuable companion volume, and one of my favourite reads, at least once the very Victorian first chapter is wadded through; lots of descriptives of craggy rocks and mountainous vistas and clear air, such as was the scene-setting flavour of Victorian literature.

Genderisation gets in the way of understanding
I am excited about the message of this book, but the ridiculous use of "it" instead of he or she (i dont mind which) creates confusion simply because it is not always obvious whether an object or a person is being referred to and this interrupts the flow of the book.

must read for the seeker
I chose this rating of five stars because of the pros and the magic that it entailed it provided throughout my imagination. Being one that does believe that this place does exist as Marco Polo I discovered, I believe it still exist to this very day, but it’s very very hidden. Now that we are entering a new phase for the human race, going into five deer, it may just be as time goes on over the years perhaps the next 10 to 15 at this place will be open once again to those who are worthy of heart I love reach the higher level of consciousness .This is a book that should be recommended to those that have not read her Book before and those that might’ve read the one under another man’s name. This does give it great credibility.I wouldn’t be surprised she’s there this, at this time now in The Author, enjoying her life, writing new books, and then putting her wisdom .Take the journey take this book and purchase it, watch it on your iPad to your iPhone or purchase the book the hardcover, of course .Live in light, love and higher consciousness

Madame Blavatsky My Adept friend
I love Madame Blavatsky. She speaks my language. I was actually looking for a recommended book about self compassion, and there was Madame Blavatsky, just when I needed her, in The Land of the Gods. I'm like, I gotta get this and it's the first one I read out of the several books I bought. She reminded me that my true calling is, I am an Adept. I knew of her from other things I have read about Theosophy, particularly, Premium Collection by Gertrude W. Van Pelt. This seems True to me, about the history of the universe, human race and God. "There is nothing real but God. Nature is only a manifestation of His (our) power. Let no one expect that somebody will prove the existence of God but seek to be a living witness of His presence and power by becoming god-like and Divine by His Divine Grace. People are destined to restore within themselves the divine image. When they realize the divine ideal within their hearts, their pilgrimage through manifold incarnations will have ended, and the object of existence accomplished. Peace be with you." Everybody should be aware of this. What a different world it would be. This book speaks to the Rosicrucian philosophy, which the universe gifted to me with the works of Max Hiendel, many years ago. Very detailed and intense, facinating, like the anatomy and physiology of the universe. I love it. A more modern approach is Dee Wallace's Borne, which is also excellent, way easier to understand and has practical applications.Love and Light to allRandy

As you found this book you will know if you were meant to read it
This book was clearly written by someone of extraordinary insight for the time it was written in, speculation re the exact author is an irrelevant distraction. As you found this book, if you have any curiosity at all, buy it as you were meant to read it, it is that simple. Spiritual journeys are best experienced and not just read about, it is a little known belief (I don't like using the word truth as it tends to trigger people) that it is possible (depending largely on the reader) that you can suspend disbelief and picture yourself on the journey of the author receiving the teaching the author received and quaffing / internalising the spiritual truths such as the author has done to the benefit of your spiritual journey... additionally, do not be afraid of re reading it some time later as it is natural for different layers of the teachings to be more relevant to you at another time. Best of luck.
