Schmidt Skull King, German Edition

I have played this game now with 3 to 4 different friendship groups, people with all different tastes and attitudes towards board/card games generally. Every time this has gone down a storm, it's a really clever game with a lot more strategy than you'd give it credit for initially.Essentially the way I put it is; it never matters how 'good' your hand is each round, the only metric for scoring is 'you place a bet on how well you'll do in this round, and you get points for being correct!'. There are other little bonuses available but basically it's fantastic because you never have that person who goes "I had such a bad hand, I never stood a chance" or "but look how good your cards were!".Play it through once with everyone, learn the way it works and it comes alive in your second play. I've hosted an evening of this game and yet also played it casually on holiday when people are relaxing - it's a truly flexible, excellent and easily portable game to keep in a bag.

Excellent game! Easy to learn and enough of the special cards to make it re-playable. I’m not always good at getting the correct number of tricks yet but I’m improving the more we play it. It’s harder to predict with 2 players but it became easier when we played it with another couple. It clearly states that it is a German edition so doesn’t include English rules but these are easy to find online. There are 2 different versions of this so make sure that you print out the correct rules as there seems to be a difference between versions.

Really fun trick taking game with a nice twist, you have to bid on how many tricks you will win and get it right in order to score points. Simple to learn but has enough depth that you won't be bored playing it with your family.

This game was so easy to understand. I downloaded rules in english and played with these cards.5*

It was a little tricky getting the idea, but once figured it's great fun. The family loves it and it definitely tests your ability to calculate your wins and manipulate your losses. We played it through twice the first day.

great little card game. reminds me of a card game my family used to play when I was a kid ( but cant remember the name ! ) but sthis does have a couple of nice twists. Good fun with lots of players and really difficult when you just have 3. Would definitely recommend it.

A lot of game in a small box, my new favourite (longish) filler game
