Excellent product, only one minor issue
Great product, very well designed and built well. I always choose products like this with the location pins, to keep devices snug and reduce twisting. My only concern with this is the tiny magnets that hold the tool in place. Itโs a clever idea, very simple and very effective, however the magnets on the one I received have come out completely, and are very tricky to get back into place. I donโt see any adhesive or anything that holds them in place so I added a drop of superglue to keep them from falling out - had this occurred in the field, itโs doubtful that I would have noticed! Likely a quality control issue, one I can live with as itโs otherwise a perfect product.

These are the perfect magic arm if you only need a small one.
I've been through literally dozens of magic arms. Most of them suck. Because most of them work using some kind of friction tightening that works for the first 4 or 5 times, and then they become loose and can never be tight enough to support something as heavy as a monitor. These are great. The strong pieces are all metal and they even come with extra bands to replace on the balls in the event that they ever wear out and won't clamp down enough. I will ALWAYS prefer attachment points that can spin independently so you don't have to screw on your accessory to the 1/4-20. I wish they sold one with 1/4-20 on both sides, but I have enough 3/8" mounting points and can usually find one. I now have three, two with the 3/8" and one with a NATO rail. I love them.

NEEDED ACCESSORY
SmallRig nailed it again! This is probably my favorite articulating arm that I have for all of my cameras. I run multi-cam with two different types of camera set-ups (video/event and Cinema) and every camera has their own assigned accessories (8 cameras total, depending on setup). The build quality is solid and it comes with a nice tool built in to help tighten it down and loosen it back up later. Buy with confidence!

Sturdy, flexible arm
Great little arm. Itโs a key piece of my music stand setup. Iโm using a 16 inch portable monitor with a vesa plate and a few small accessories mounted to the back. This magic arm attaches to the vesa plate then to a long articulating arm. The monitor and accessories weigh 2 to 3 lbs. The magic arm is very solid, gives me lots of easy adjustability for positioning, and is easy to loosen for adjustment and to retighten. The locating pins are key for keeping the monitor from unscrewing through use. The only downside is that the little โwrenchโ that stores in the handle of the magic arm comes out too easily. The magnet is not strong enough and I expect that I will lose it eventually. No big deal; itโs not needed, but it is convenient to have.

I usually love smallrig gear - and - still do!
Never had a problem with any of their gear. It just works. This one surprised me though. Didn't even get it into field before it broke. Mounted it to FX30 cage, put Ninja 5 on it, tightened it down. Cabled up monitor and set rig down - 5 minutes later my ninja crashed into my lens as the magic arm had failed. Fortunately only minor cosmetic damage to the ninja. Still. Not up to SmallRig standards, hoping it's just a defective unit. Update -- They reached out and sent a replacement arm... Yep it seems it was just a defective item. Still strange for SmallRig, but it happens to every company from time to time. AND more importantly, they made it right. The new unit works brilliantly and I gave it quite a working in this afternoon to try and make it fail - but no issues. So 5 stars despite the shaky start for this particular item. Trust in SmallRig is restored.. and then some.

Flexible, and Sturdy
This unit attaches very securely to a camera cage and doesnโt let the monitor to spin uncontrolled. It allows you to position the monitor exactly where you need it.

Smallrig articulating magic arm with locating pins.
Pretty heavy duty arm. Good quality made of metal. 3/8 screw at one end and 1/4 on the other. Comes with spare O rings.

Locating pin stopped working after 1 use
Pretty nice magic arm, very stiff once tightened. However 1 of the locating pins got stuck and stopped springing up after 1 use. Poor quality control.
