Non drip and great results
This is an amazing hair colour. Using foam is great because it’s non drip, which is great as you don’t end up with spots all over your bathroom. It lightens my hair by a few shades every time and is gentle and no strong smell. The conditioner that comes with it leaves my hair really soft. There is a good amount of dye supplied, my hair is slightly longer than shoulder length and I can comfortably do all. The only slight negative is it could be better on my grey hair.

Brilliant
I love John Frieda hair products, but was unaware he did hair dye. It was so simple and easy to apply. And the icing on the cake was my hair didnt go black to start with. It was a beautiful warm brown. Plus i used his conditioner included and my hair was so soft and shiny. And the whole process didnt have that awful hair dye aroma. So 5 stars and will definitely buy again.

My New “Go-To” Box Colour…..Absolutely Brilliant Stuff. So Much Easier than Creams
Well, I’ve got to say I’m really very impressed with this hair dye mousse. I struggled to find it on our high street in a small Dorset town, but Amazon never fails for finding things. It was a really good price at £6.66 on here too at the time.Just to set the science…I’m in my early 50’s and have box coloured my hair for many many years. I’m likely to be 85-100% grey now…..but have no idea 😂. I was born with white-blonde hair which had got darker as I got older. I’d say I’m a natural light brown more now. I have very curly 3b/3c curly that is dry, delicate and porous because i colour it.John Frieda is a bit of a hero to us Curly girls so I trusted this brand before I started, and wanted to try the mousse against my usual brand Nice N Easy. This colour mousse is without doubt the easiest and best box colour I’ve ever used. Using foam, for me, is far superior and easy to apply to very curly hair. Creams are quite thick and don’t spread through the hair that easily. The instructions are pictured through the stages and very easy to follow. The weirdest bit is that you automatically want to press the top of the pump down to obtain the foam, instead you need to squeeze the bottle to get the foam out. I’ve got very thick hair, and there’s plenty in this bottle to do all my hair at the moment (the length is level with my shoulders). Very easy to apply. However, it does say in the instructions (see photo) that the foam needs to look like the picture and foam piled on your head should be visible. This is not the case when I apply it. The foam quickly disappears and makes my hair look and feel damp, and feels wetter the more I apply. I’ve done this colour routine twice now and on both occasions I didn’t have a pile of foam on my head….saying that though it works and is amazing coverage. I wonder if that it’s because I use a lot of products on my hair and the instructions state to put on dry unwashed hair. I don’t know. It works brilliantly though. This John Freida box colour (mine is 9N), gives a very good even coverage with minimum effort and ease and looks a very natural blonde and like the colour on the box. Not brassy or an unnatural like some blonde dyes in the “Group 9” of the colour chart (9 being the lightest blonde in all makes). 9N, I’m guessing is 9 Natural, and very natural it looks too. I love it. Even 3 weeks later I can see no fading or patches of grey appearing. The colour holds well and doesn’t fade or go patchy.Applying the foam, there is quite a strong smell to it. No worse or better than other brands so I’m used to that. It also causes my eyes to water a bit when applying just by breathing. Again the same as others I’ve used. I leave the foam on for 30 mins then wash off when in the shower. When rinsing it off the slip is very good and my hair feels soft and silky which I don’t get with Nice n Easy or Garnier Nuttrise. They both feel drying at this stage on my hair. I then shampoo my hair to ensure all the dye is out, then use the conditioner they provide in the box. My hair loves conditioner, so i use the whole tube in one application and leave to work its magic for 10 mins whilst im showering, Fantastic conditioner. Hair feels lovely and soft with great slip. I didn’t need to use my own conditioner brand as well aferwards, which is what I usually need to do when using the conditioner in other colouring boxes with other brands. This conditioner is so silky and rich it does leave a very slippery residue in the shower tray so be very very careful. It’s extremely slippery under foot. Ensure you rinse the shower tray thoroughly before someone else uses the shower after you too. Absolutely brilliant dye. Very Easy & quick to apply, Holds its colour, feels soft, excellent conditioner and a very good natural colour. This is now my new “go-to” box colour for sure.

Didn't cover greys well
The main selling point for me was the advertised 100% grey coverage, unfortunately that hasn't been my experience. Whilst most of my hair is a lovely, natural looking colour, my greys are a mix of grey and very light copper. This was such a disappointment as I enjoyed the dyeing process, I loved how easy it was to prepare the product, and there wasn't a strong smell whilst I was using it.

Easier to use
Bought this as it was on offer. Will be buying again. So easier to use and really nice colour and soft hair.

Brilliant
I have been using box colours for well over 30 years and have often toyed with the idea of using this John Frieda product but was scared I’d have problems. I find that Box colours need very careful application to ensure full coverage or else sections get missed - I always miss at least 1 patch. . I have moved house and the bathroom set up is now as such I cannot use mirrors to see the back of my head easily - so I bought this John Frieda product because application is easier. At first I wondered if the mixed solution would be enough - I’ve a 2 inch below jawline bob and my hair is fairly thick, But one box was sufficient. My regrowth is pure white. I was completely bowled over by the result. I admit I watched a couple of videos on Utube. I wish I had used this before now. The shade 8N was very even and no strong ammonia smell. It comes with a wonderful conditioner with sufficient for a few washes. Fully recommended. Don’t be tempted to shake the solution after mixing. Tilting the bottle down and up again counts as one. . Fully recommended
