Huck (HUCK TP)

Not your typical Millarworld title
4/5.I like reading Mark Millar comics, they're the four colour versions of Hollywood blockbusters. Slightly thin on the ground in terms of character and story wise, but always absolutely gorgeous to look at, with Mark regularly having access to the best artists in comics and allowing them time to produce stellar work.Huck, is different. It's not balls to the wall action, it's a bit...mushy...maybes even hopeful in its tone. Huck is a good natured, simple soul who uses his largely hidden powers to help people with various problems. This is until some light us shoneon his origins and we get the obligatoryaction and exposition scenes. Millar uses his limited series format very well and Huck is an easy read but I think it will warrant re-reading from time to time. The story is worth your time and it's brilliantly rendered by Rafael Alberqueque of American Vampire fame. He's a strong artist and his exaggerated style fits the story and characters and setting really well and his action flows well and is easy to follow. The artis allowed to breathe and show itself as Millar is a master in not filling his panels with unnecessary dialogue or text, something that can be lost with newer, less experienced talents. In short, worth your time and cash.

Superhero with a difference
Great tale of a gentle super hero that is exposed to the world. really enjoyed it not like any other regular Super hero graphic novels, because this hero is a gentle simple soul, who try to keep his powers to himself. Of course someone exposes him to the rest of the world, and his simple life is no more.I only gave this the 4 stars because the tail does not really end.... and its been out a while and no news of any Huck part 2!

I'm not usually one for superheros but this is one of my favourite TPs, simple beautiful story, perfect art, shame there is only one.

Brilliant story, introduction to characters and development actually makes you want to care about Huck. In simpler terms its Captain America meets Forrest Gump

Three Stars
Enjoyable, but too many superhero comic book cliches - so three stars. Pleasant story but ultimately a bit on the expensive side for what it is.
