Fantastic but awful packaging!!!
This is brilliant. But, dreadful packaging!!! I didn’t realise that you have to watch the ‘extras’ in order, they got mixed up!! So, for any of you that have got them mixed up, this is for you:At the end of series 2 watch Xmas at Downton Abbey. At the end of series 3 watch A Journey to the HighlandsAt the end of series 4 watch The London SeasonAt the end of series 5 watch A Moorland HolidayAt the end of series 6 watch The FinaleI wish I had known!!! It was like watching Pulp Fiction!!! Apart from getting it all mixed up, due to the awful packaging, it’s great!

Not quite as advertised.
Like nearly everyone, especially those who have written reviews, We LOVED IT! I ordered the uncut UK version so we could enjoy everything that the series offered. I live in the U.S. and resented the PBS hack job. However, there are two things to note about this particular edition. 1. It is NOT completely HD, as stated on the packaging. According to the display on my dvd player, about half are 1920/1080px60 while the remainder are 720/480x60. It alternated [every other disc] between the two formats. The phenomenon was present in all six series. Because I use an HDMI cable connection, and my tv automatically adapts to the input, I did not notice any visual difference on my tv screen. 2. Because of the way the discs are arranged in the clamshell and the fact that the special episodes [Christmas, et. al.] are not designated by series, I had to guess as to which one went with which series. 3. As noted, in nearly every review, the packaging is TERRIBLE-P**S POOR is my evaluation. It took me nearly 20 minutes to extract the discs without damage. I transferred all discs to standard cases [2 or 4 disc] as appropriate. There are numerous sites that offer free downloads of dvd covers so nothing is lost. Remember, the more often you remove a disc from its case, the higher the risk of causing cracks around the hole and rendering the disc unusable. We have watched the first two series and they are great. We have no issues but I did want to alert more fastidious viewers to the anomalies o this edition.

Horrific packaging!
Wonderful to own the complete collection of this fabulous series. I've already purchased most of the previous boxed sets but thought it would be nice to have the whole set in one, but what a huge let down in the packaging! It is the worst packaging of a series I've ever come across. Very difficult to find the disc you're looking for and how can the designers of this packaging think it is acceptable to have discs right on top of each other - they scratch like this people :-(. My set arrived with discs loose in the box and not even remotely in the correct order. VERY disappointing for something that would have been a treasure.

Packaged perfectly
Perfect just thought I’d mention the packaging as the reviews did put me off slightly all discs where packaged perfectly considering it has 6 seasons and special episodes inca lot of discs all in correct order and clearly marked for the money an absolute bargain

Fantastic series - viewing order not clear though
I'd not watched any of Downton Abbey before purchasing this set and have binged on them in an embarrassingly short duration! I purchased the Blu-rays and have been very pleased with the quality of the production. It is an excellent series, I particularly love the outfits - the changing fashions over the period of years over which it is set is really quite striking and the costumes are splendid. I nearly gave up watching after series 3 but persevered and am glad I did as it was fabulous from start to finish. I did have to go on the internet to work out the viewing order as the box set gave no indication of which Christmas special should be viewed between series (which is vital for continuity of storyline).Viewing order:*SERIES 1*SERIES 2*CHRISTMAS AT DOWNTON ABBEY*SERIES 3*A JOURNEY TO THE HIGHLANDS*SERIES 4*THE LONDON SEASON*SERIES 5*A MOORLAND HOLIDAY*SERIES 6*THE FINALE

obviously I love it otherwise I wouldn't have purchased a box set ...
My English is not well, so I take this review for I agree with him, for the box itself is a real mess:By Weisenwolf on 30 Nov. 2016Format: Blu-ray Verified PurchaseThis box sets contains all of Downton Abbey including the finale. I won't say too much about the show itself; obviously I love it otherwise I wouldn't have purchased a box set and I'm sure if you, the reader, are contemplating purchasing it you are a fan too.The box set itself, however, I have issues with.It is one of these elaborate plastic frames with flaps to clip the discs to and it's a mess. It's not one flap per series or two series per flap its just a jumble of discs which have to be on top of each other so you can only read the label on one by removing another from the box. It's almost impossible to keep the discs in order, they fall out frequently and I managed seevral times in the ensuing confusion to skip a disc much to my annoyance. If I were rating just the show it's a definate 5/5 but the box itself is a 2/5 at best. Thanks Weisenwolf, your warning helped me a lot, the box is indeed a bag of chips.

Fabulous box set; horrid packaging
Fabulous series - every episode and all the Christmas specials plus a multitude of extras so it's a very comprehensive set.. I loved every minute of it. However, the packaging for this particular box set is less than ideal hence the 4 star rating. There are too many discs in the box with most of them doubled up and the central buttons are very tight so it's difficult to take the discs out. Patience is definitely a virtue when dealing with this packaging but if you are a die hard Downton fan, who is not easily irritated, then go ahead and purchase it.

Something definitely wrong
Have just received my boxed set. Prepared for an evenings viewing and enjoyed Series One, Disc One. Put Disc Two in my player and found it did not tally with the on-going story. Played Disc 3 and that too is completely out of sequence. So, it would appear the discs have not been labelled correctly. Am I the only person to have got this problem. Obviously I have to send them back because I cannot troll through 52 discs. HELP
