Proxxon make quality equipment. The sanding heads ensure good access to small spaces but as the sanding pads are very fine they do tend to wear quite quickly. You can always make up some coarser ones with some double sided tape and sandpaper. I use mine for sanding small models so can't comment about ornate furniture. You will also need a Proxxon power supply as Proxxon use a strange 3 pin plug, or have to wire it up to a suitable power supply.

could this be used on plastic?

Hi, if you are talking model kits then yes. I have also used it on polycarbonate and acrylic. For fine work only though, this is a precision model tool. I think it’s a superb tool for its intended use. Kobe that helps.

Dose this plug straight to mains socket

Could this be used on aluminium? I want to remove some small burs from cutting square holes in sheet metal, nothing too aggressive.

Hi, It is not ideal for this usage but if it is very light metal work then I would say this is suitable. The only abrasives available are silicon carbide though. Kind regards Tracey
