Batrecycle - Battery recycling bin with built in tester.

Really impressed with this battery recycling bin. It’s a great size for keeping used batteries tidy and out of the way until they can be recycled. The built-in tester is a clever touch — quick and easy to check if a battery still has charge before throwing it out. The design is neat, sturdy, and looks good sitting on a shelf or countertop. It keeps everything organised and makes recycling that bit easier. A simple but very useful product that every household should have. Five stars from me!

Fabulous invention: check the battery life & store for eco friendly recycling

I used to keep old/used batteries in a smallish plastic bag supplied by my local council, and kept in a kitchen drawer. It was not ideal, and I had quite a few old very batteries that had leaked and the inside of the bag was not very pleasant. I decided to buy this, purely as a good sized storage. The tester built in to the lid is a pleasant bonus ( although I do not use it often). I also like the fact that the lid has a hole that is permanently open and I can just drop any battery in to the container, without having to open it or unscrew a lid first. I did buy another container that was a metal can, but it looked and felt even more utilitarian than this (and I had to prise the lid off each time I wanted to add any batteries. I do not routinely use the tester in the lid - I usually know when batteries are dead, and do not bother to test them again if I am replacing them, but it is not a bad feature. It does not bother me in the slightest that I need to press a button to test a battery (some reviewers are negative about this). I am quite happy with this one, and it sits happily on my kitchen counter in a corner, but could just as easily sit in a cupboard anywhere. EDIT June 2021: I still like this, and I have been using the battery tester, i find it convenient and useful.

We all need to recycle more and used batteries are one of those environment damaging items which it is far to easy to just throw away the dead units. Most big retailers (and many companies) will now take back dead batteries for recycling so it makes sense to get rid of them this way. This unit is holds loads of dead batteries so they can be recycled in bulk and also comes with a useful battery tester on the top for AAA, AA, C & D sizes. I found I was throwing away good batteries when I thought they were flat (sometimes I had to reuse in less power hungry devices) so the tester alone has saved me the cost of the device. Looks wise, it is not going to win any design awards so is not the sort of thing you leave out and about - mine is in my utility room where looks are less important. I have marked the unit down 1 star because the tester is not automatic and needs you to press a button relative to the battery you want testing. It should be possible to only have 1 test button regardless of which battery size is inserted.

Perfect! If you’re a household who goes through batteries like nobody’s businesses, especially with kids and their toys, this is very ideal for storing dead batteries and checking the life of the batteries if ever you’re unsure. I’ve had this a few years now and it’s only just gotten full. My dad works for a battery recycling company so he already had one and recommended I get one too. Very happy with my purchase.

Feels good quality and robust. The tester seems accurate. The perfect size for home use battery recycling.

*Please be aware this review is being written from a completely blind person's perspective.* Great idea, I use a lot of batteries, great way to dispose of them. I obviously, can’t use the tester, but I bought one for my mum as well, as she uses a lot for my nephew’s toys.

I wanted a dedicated holder for all the loose batteries that the kids seem to have accumulated over the years! When I spotted this and it included it's own tester I quickly popped an order in- which, through the benefit of Prime, promptly arrived a day or two later. So far it only has one major floor - I've only spent about 2mins using the product myself; my 8yr old was very intrigued by the design & simplicity of the bin that he quickly volunteered to put it to the test. That was about 2 weeks ago and since then he has scoured the kitchen drawers and raided his brothers rooms to check on old batteries :-) Very simple yet practical design and having all the old batteries stored safely away in this container is brilliant - and so easy to take along with you when next off to the tip, so that they can be properly disposed of & recycled. It's a fab 'gadget' is a little larger than I thought it would be/looked in the pictures (but this is only a good thing) and the colour scheme/design makes it stand out. Really pleased with it and hopefully one day I'll get to use it again too!!
