Brunhide Men's Cowboy Hat

Hat’s don’t usually suit me but this one is an exception. It fits well and feels comfortable. The quality is good.

When this hat arrived, I was slightly surprised to see the material described as genuine cracked leather. I shouldn't have worried as the leather feels of high quality and has softened nicely with use.I ordered to my usual size and the hat fits perfectly. I barely notice it now after a months usage has softened the fit. There is a fabric strip inside the rim that helps the comfortable feel. Other than this fabric strip, the inside is unlined.Wearing it for a 15 mile hike in temperatures in the high 20's Celsius, I found the venting surprisingly effective which made the hat cool and comfortable. Some salt staining occurred above the front rim but this was easily cleared with saddle soap and leather conditioner. The brim is also leather. It is wide and quite stiff providing good sun shading. I have also worn the hat in windy weather when the thin, soft leather chinstrap holds the hat in place nicely. In fine weather I stow the chinstrap above the rear rim where it sits out of the way causing no irritation.This hat has quickly become one of my favourites and is highly recommended.

Cracked and faded after a year. However, I do wear it out in pretty extreme outdoor conditions. Not for expeditions.

The hat arrived quickly, and looks great. It’s a tight fit, which I wanted for wind resistance, though I expect it’ll loosen up a bit over time. I haven’t tested it in the rain yet, but I’ll pile on the waterproofing in any case. I like the slightly distressed look, which I hope will increase with use, and I can see this hat becoming a cherished old friend.

The hat seems a bit tight, I ordered a medium, but if I ordered a large it would be too loose. I feel my head is in between sizes. But other than that it is perfect and I do wear it as it keeps the sun off my head..
