JanSport SuperBreak Backpack

I was worried that it might seem like a kids' backpack since so many reviewers bought it for their grandkids. Balderdash! it's perfect for any self-respecting adult. The bag is on the large size in terms of how much it will hold, but it is also light and not at all bulky. I was worried about the padded shoulder strap being too big, and it is bigger than no padding at all, but it's solid when you sling it over your shoulder and not bulky. When it is full and you wear it like a backpack, the strap makes it sit comfortably and snugly on your shoulders and seems to help distribute the weight. I use this as a purse because I have so much to carry and was tired of juggling two or three heavy bags. My 15 1/2" laptop fits along with a change of clothes, my work paperwork, all the regular purse stuff; it keeps expanding to fit everything you need. The best part is the print; the colors are bright, and the pattern is an updated version of funky and artistic and utilitarian and pretty. It has just one big, open space inside that could expand to hold the contents of a grocery bag, so you're not getting separate inside pockets, but the front zipper pocket is larger than normal and has a smaller flat pocket inside where I put lipstick and earrings and delicate stuff. Despite its hunky ability to carry the Oxford English Dictionary, running shoes, sweats, notebook, lunch, pajamas, a bottle of wine and your bathing suit comfortably, it looks great and gives you the confidence that finally, everything is going to fit quickly without having to play purse Tetris to cram it all in . The surface is sort of water-repellant but not at all plastic; the bag would be great in place of a purse on a plane flight. The print will make you feel happy and ready for fun and adventure even if you're lugging your life on your back. Highly recommend.

I bought this backpack for my 9 year old daughter. She really likes the color. It is neon peachy. She is very happy with this particular color and the variety of colors is one reason we selected this brand. She likes that it is lightweight and easy to carry. How I see it: It is roomy - even a little tall for just books and binders, though I hear taller packs are better for kids backs. The interior has no lining and no extra pockets or places to tuck things away. The same for the exterior pocket (it does have a couple of slots to store pencils). I noticed that the fabric is a little see through, too. It's a lightweight, synthetic canvas. The fabric and straps are lightweight. The zipper is plastic, the pulls are generously sized and metal - seem reasonably durable. The main opening has two pulls (one from each side). Because it has no liner nor a higher density fabric base and the fabric is lightweight I am concerned about its durability. We'll see how well it hold up.

I bought this for my daughter (6th grade) at the beginning of the school year 8 months ago. I had a JanSport backpack way back when I was in high school and college and after many years of carrying heavy text books, I only had to repair it once, so I already had trust for the JanSport brand. This backpack has held up nicely over the last 8 months with NO signs of the straps' sewing coming loose at the top. It is also quite roomy and she stuffs it to the max! Fits a lunchbox, a couple of books, notebooks, gym clothes, etc. My daughter has been very happy with it. She chose the style and this particular one hides dirt quite well. Still looks new. She will be using it again for 7th grade and will continue to use it if it continues to hold up this well. It also came with a tag that said it has a lifetime warranty, which is a big plus. Zipper works smoothly and doesn't show any signs of binding or getting stuck. Highly recommend!!

Not the best and sturdiest backpack, but works great for the value.

My 8 year old son loves bright colors, so this multi pop block color is awesome! It looks just like the image, and since my husband has this same Jansport backpack from circa 1980-something (which he still uses for his ski gear - helmet, goggles, gloves, etc), it was exactly as I expected. The sturdy (but not super thick) fabric seems identical to my husband's older-than-dirt Jansport, which has obviously held up just fine over the years.Lightweight and simple design. One main compartment - so I'm not searching high and low for my son's papers and homework in 3 or 4 different pockets - and one smaller compartment in the front (both zippered). The front pocket is about 10" x 8" x 2", and has a couple smaller slots inside it. The big pocket is about 17" tall and it's about 7" deep. If you were wanting to carry a bunch of heavy books, I might recommend something more "fancy", but this is perfect for papers, a couple library books, and some pens and pencils.

We bought this three semesters ago for my daughter who is now in 6th grade. It still looks new. This is great quality and did not disappoint with quality or style. The zippers still operate nicely. The bottom is not the least bit worn. I Highly recommend this backpack over the Dickies brand with similar features that has since ripped at the seams.UPDATE August 2015: This backpack is amazing. It still looks and functions like new. There are no holes in the bottom where you'd expect there to be normal wear and tear. The' colors are still vibrant. The straps have withstood heavy textbooks without ripping out at the seams. She stuffs it as full as it can be filled and the zippers are still perfect. I would give it more than five stars if it were possible. At this rate, she will likely have this backpack when she graduates. I would definitely recommend this backpack.

Got one for my son and one for my daughter. Well made and nice size for at least grades K - 6. Maybe even high school, but it isn't huge. Why not 5 stars? One issue is that the zipper gets stuck on the flap of fabric meant to cover the zipper when backpack is closed. This happened A LOT during Kindergarten. Less so now that he is in 1st grade. It is hard to fix when it happens. However, this is a sturdy back pack that I expect to be around for years unlike those cheap pieces of crap I see fall apart in a few months. Well worth the money.
