It's not the same story as the film
That is the fault of the film rather than the book! The story in the book is far more interesting than the one in the film.

Good book - easy to follow
I must be the only person to not know the film! Brought this for a holiday read which I couldn't put down. Although written a good while ago the text is easy to follow.

Good second hand copy - a thrilling gripping story
Good second hand copy - a thrilling gripping story, half way through so far - as a follow-on to our Victoria literature course the language is even more 'flowery' than the English equivalent and the female leads even more fragile and maidenly! But that's not a criticism.

Wasn’t new condition as stated
Wanted a new one as for a birthday present. Book listed as new but corners were well worn so unsuitable to gift

I bought the book because I enjoyed the film version with Daniel Day Lewis
I bought the book because I enjoyed the film version with Daniel Day Lewis. The original text has some similarities but is obviously different in style. Nevertheless it's a good read with interesting points of similarity and difference
