Works Great for 2006 Dodge Dakota
I bought this for my 2006 Dodge Dakota. I read some reviews on other harnesses and purchased one that another reviewer said would work. I was really hoping for a cheaper alternative, because this one is kind of expensive for a stereo wiring harness. But, that other harness did not work and I was not able to locate a cheaper alternative that did not involve some type of rewiring. This Metra harness worked perfectly, plugging right in and working immediately. It is said to be designed for cars where the radio goes off once the door is opened. But, my vehicle does not have that feature yet this is the harness that I needed. It is possible that there is a setting to make that happen on my vehicle, and that me be true for you, as well. Either way, don't waste your time chasing other solutions. Bite the bullet and get this harness for your new after-market stereo

2008 Dodge Ram Quad Cab
This product or one like it is needed to install an aftermarket stereo system in my truck. It provides the needed accessory power to turn the stereo on and off as well as some other needed features. You will not have to cut any factory wires if you use this. I gave it a four even though it works perfect because of the lack of instructions. Connecting the wires is no big deal and they are well identified. The problem I had was with initialization. Maybe I just read it wrong on the sheet that came with mine, but you have to plug in this harness to the factory plug, turn on the ignition for 30 seconds, then turn it off. After doing that you can hook up your new stereo. I hooked it all up at once and did the 30 second thing and the stereo would not shut off when I turned off the ignition, which is pretty much the whole reason for blowing $40 something on this product. I finally figured it out though and it works good.

Is not needed for a non amplified install.
I bought this expensive harness because it stated that it is needed to install an aftermarket stereo in a 2006 Dodge Ram. I followed directions carefully, but it kept draining my battery. I even spent way too long trying to use my phone and the app to update the units software. Finally I took it all apart and re-installed it all. After 3 days of dead batteries I got fed up and took everything I installed out and returned them all. It killed two $115 batteries, lucky for me I was able to use the warranty on the second one. What worked for me, I used a $7 harness from a local retailer. However, the stereo wasn't getting power. I figured out the 12v ignition wire on the trucks harness is on a different pin then the harness from the stereo. After some google searching, I spliced the 12v ignition wire from the harness into the cigarette outlet (driver side) that only is has power with ignition. I forget which forum it was posted on.It turns out this isn't needed for my setup at all, with the cheap harness my stereo still stays on until I open my door then it turns off, just like the factory radio.

Not for vehicles with factory navigation & Infinity speaker system
Very good quality product but unfortunately it doesn’t work if your truck came with the factory navigation system and Infinity speaker like my 2006. If you have these options you will need a different wiring harness.

This will let the unit function like the factory stereo did
This item worked well. I replaced the factory 1.5 DIN stereo in a 2007 Dodge Ram with an aftermarket double DIN stereo. Everything plugged right in. I read in another review that you need to cycle the ignition for 30 seconds before you plug in the new stereo. This is correct. This will let the unit function like the factory stereo did. I did this and it works great. Stereo stays on with key in the off position until i open the door.

Don't try doing without this harness !
I purchased a new Navigation style radio (double Dinn size) to be installed in a 2007 Dodge charger that came with standard radio. I was given the wrong wiring harness at Best buy but I was able to look up the correct one on Amazon and the manufacturer's website. This wiring harness was the correct one and made installations a breeze. I could not believe how easy it made the installation. Simple to follow instructions and reasonable price. I real must have for the correct installation.

Works to an extent.
It works, but it won't turn off if you are in accessory. Start your engine and turn off your vehicle, the head unit will turn off and supply power. Go to ACC power then off, and the head unit won't turn off or go between off and on.

Makes aftermarket stereo installation easy
Wired everything together with radio harness easily. Instructiona where easy and concise. Only complaint was in factory connector four of the holes where slightly offset so made connecting them a bit fiddly, so needed to slightly tweak the pins over to line them up to factory connector. Once installed everything worked as expected best part retains accessory power like it's a factory deck.

Did not fit due to factory amp
Did not fit as my 2005 Chrysler 300c has a factory amp.

didnt work as intended
i bought this unit so i could just plug and play my new deck didnt want to rewire anything but ended up spending 8 hours rewiring everything the only thing this harness gave me was a power wire that turned on and off the stereo but i could have used a 7 inch wire from cig lighter to deck so instead i paid for this to do what i could have done for pennys i would not buy this again as it was a complete waste of money

*****UPDATE THE FIRMWARE*****
Bought this adapter to install an aftermarket head unit in 08 Jeep Patriot. It worked well to let us solder and heat shrink all of the speaker, power and reverse wires on the head unit. Able to just unbolt, unplug factory stereo and plug in the new system. Only 4 stars because of the known, documented battery drain issue.3 days after installing the unit, battery stone dead. Charge up with charger, goes another 3 days and dead once again. Replaced old battery with new Motomaster 650CCA. Lasted 10 days and then was stone dead. Hop onto the internet and see that this is a common problem with the 6502 model. The suggested fix was to use the firmware updated software, USB port, PC and update the firmware. Current firmware loaded on unit was 3.1. Software updated auto downloaded latest version (3.4) and installed into the module. Exstatic to report that the Patriot has now been running for 2 weeks without any battery drain!!! This is also been through the coldest February in the last 40 years, with average lows in the -30degC and highs of -20degC....not even one morning with a battery issue.Great unit, just make sure you update the firmware before installing.
