External DVD Drive, USB 3.0 Portable DVD Burner, Super Slim External Optical Drive, CD/DVD-RW Writer for Macbook Pro Laptop/Desktops Win 7/8.1/10 and Linux OS

This product appears lovely. It's fairly small, compact, has the single USB wire and plug that can be stored in the base of the machine. It looks modern and good. I plugged it into my new Windows laptop android before turning it on, turned it on and struggled. I plugged it into a different USB port and it worked slightly better. It came up as a DVD drive in My PC. Despite trying 4 different DVDs that were 3 genuine and 1 copy, only the copy worked. I am returning this. It is a shame because this looks and great little machine. I haven't used or downloaded any software, though my laptop does already have Media Player on it. The machine I received also had part of it hanging off, which was the front of where the DVD drive itself. I am looking to see what machine to order instead. There is a green light that is on when the disc is being read, though the machine was a bit clunky as if it was struggling. I would suggest that if you like the look of this, order it, try it and it is easy to return. I do think it's a shame I'm returning this, as it looks a lovely small machine.

These days not only laptops but also full tower cases have no CD-ROM. I mean, I understand why this is done in laptops - CD Drives can be bulky and quite heavy.However, as this product proves - this is not a rule of thumb, this one is light and thin (not your standard 3.5" massive drive). To be honest, I picked particularly this model due to it's design. But I received so much more than I expected:a) YES - it does look great!b) As above - it's thin and ligh, which makes it very portablec) Writing / reading speeds are as good as on a solid 50X drived) Rubber grips on the bottom really help preventing the drive from movingI have no idea why nobody else has mentioned anything about the speed of this drive. Bear in mind that it is powevered via USB 3.0 not a dedicated SATA power cable - so I was sure this product is not going to perform as standardCD/DVD drives. And here again I was proved wrong - it's performing as good as an internal 50X drive on my other PC.Overall, I am very happy with the purchase and would certainly recommend it.

So, I had a defective drive that just wouldn't burn CDs (using Windows 7 / 10 and Linux) - but the customer service was excellent (from Joy in particular). They contacted me after my initial review and made several helpful suggestions, before sending me a refund after a solution couldn't be found.Thanks again!Alex

Generally happy with this product. The only thing is occasionally the computer does not recognize it and I have to unplug it and then plug it back in. Once recognized everything works fine.

Had some difficulty getting the DVDs to play as it didn't download the software automatically, but managed to get it working after a while.

A great value DVD drive that is neat and is compact. Works straight out of the box. Very pleased with this purchase!

Arrived when told it would used straight out of box had no need to find drivers, so far only used for playing dvd.

easy to use does the job no issues which is a plus looks good nice price
