Original Ideas, Tight Prose--Finally A Book of Philosophy Worth Reading!
I’m so tired of “philosophers” regurgitating half-baked commentary or convoluting their messages through horribly written prose. Luckily, Lovers of Sophia is not that. If you’re looking to find new ideas, unique interpretations, and down-right solid thinking, this is the book for you. If you want convoluted self-importance, and barely comprehensible writing, you’re better off reading something by Zizek….This book is exciting in its unique and original approach to ideas and concepts that have been beaten to death, resurrected, and then beaten to death again. Jorjani is nothing short of one of the sharpest intellects around. His ideas about Plato, for example, are a refreshing drink of cool water. Considering all the commentary about Plato to date, it’s amazing that Jorjani offers a truly original approach to interpreting Plato’s ideas. On top of solid and original thinking, his writing is incredible. His prose is approachable, but not simplistic. It’s the perfect balance of challenging and engaging. Finally, a book of philosophical essays that feels as if written to be read by “normal” people—not trained, academic brown-nosers!In short, I am very pleased that I stumbled on Jorjani’s scholarship. This book will be of value to anyone that considers themselves an independent thinker.
