Great Beginner's Book
I've been doing cross stitch for a while now, picked it back up as an adult, but wanted to branch out into embroidery as well. I like things a little goth or irreverent, and this book hit all my wants. It has good tutorials and informational sections, and designs that aren't just cute or pretty. The poison bottle may be my first project. Photos are plentiful and instructions clear, patterns are fun and wide ranging in complexity. They start out teaching you the basics and then progress in techniques as you go, so you build your skills. I highly recommend.

Great for beginners!
After doing one started embroidery kit, I wanted to learn more and try more complicated projects. I bought this books because the patterns were cute, but it’s way more that patterns! She has easy to follow instructions for your foundational stitches, and a lot of great information on the tools of the trade. What to look for in thread, hoops, fabric, what other tools you need and ways to organize it all. I’ve done two of the projects and looking forward to doing the rest of them. If you’re looking to get into embroidery, and want more than “Home Sweet Home” patterns, this is the book for you!

Very clear
I just restarted embroidery today (after 20 years) and read the whole thing this afternoon. It uses a few basic concepts to get you started and tells you all you need to get working well. I bought this in conjunction with a stitch gallery book. This book encourages me to get started and I use the stitch gallery for reference. I think this book explains some of the stitches a little clearer than others, but I think you will still need to watch a video of the knots. The simplicity of the projects really makes it clear that theRe is room for you in embroidery.

Everything combined into one
This book has everything! The first part is embroidery 101, it had information that I was looking for, as well as information I didnt know I needed (how to properly hoop, how to wash your work, how to finalize a project.)The best part is that it explains how to transfer patterns, how to make your own patterns, and explains which cloths you can use and what the differences are.The patterns in the back are also very cute.*this does not come with actual materials, but it is a book with detailed instructions and patterns that you can transfer yourself and it explains how to do so.

Edgy Embroidery is awesome. Buy it today.
I've been following Renee and Moonrisewhims for a long time. She's so talented and her patterns are unique and fun. Edgy Embroidery combines her knowledge of the craft and her amazing patterns, making it easy to create your own little works of art. She breaks down a bunch of different stitches into step by step instructions and even has pictures to help! Each pattern she provides in the book comes with some helpful guidance, as well as specifics on floss count and color and hopefully size. The book is full of beautiful artwork and loads of inspirational help. I'm so excited to complete more projects from the book and to utilize the knowledge I gain to enhance every other project I get my hands on.(I've attached a finished ribcage I completed using the provided pattern and guidance. It was super easy to follow and Renee's tips really helped make it unique and fun.)

Worth the purchase!
This book is amazing! The patterns are amazing and the additional info on different stitches has helped me tremendously. The only down side was figuring out the best way to transfer the designs, but I figured the best way for me was to tape them to a window while its sunny, tape my fabric on top, and trace with a white tracing pencil or washable pen. This is a great book for someone just starting to embroider that wants to learn different stitches and have a variety of easy, medium, and more advanced pieces.

Great reference and modern design book in one!
So happy I chose this book. Everything I wanted as a beginner. Answered questions regarding how much floss, great instructions for French knots. Love the fun designs in the back that can be traced or used with a light board. If you’re looking for modern, fun embroidery projects, this is definitely the book for you. Part reference (decent reference) and part designs. Best of both worlds.

Great book with amazin patterns and very clear explanation, highly recommend
Exceptional book for dipping your toe into embroidery, the instructions are extremely clear and the patterns absolutely great. I've looked all of the patterns this book contains and I want to do them all. I also love that there's a good learning curve to it, the first couple of patterns use only one stitch, then another is added, and so on and so forth. Before you know it you have learned to do crazy things. Well at least I hope it will be the case for me, I've already started hoarding different types of fabric to practice all of the stitches and patterns. It is definitely a challenge, but a fun one because these patterns are so great and the explanation so clear. I highly recommend it to beginners like me and seasonned stitchers who want a fun twist on the traditionnal patterns.

Great for beginners!
Highly recommend this book for anyone just starting out (or anyone who doesn't want their embroidery to come out looking like great-grandma Betty-Sue's). Clear instructions, even if you have never picked up a needle and thread before, this book is for you. Original, unique designs that range from very simple to much more complex as you learn more stitches. Very happy with this purchase.
