Any good for watching films along with general use / casual gaming?

You'd need anything but a casual gaming PC to be able to run games at 4k, I'd personally look into a 1080p monitor. Will be just as happy and save you hundreds :)

Does the HDR work with xbox one x?

For me I am certain it is not a true hdr monitor. It wasnt bright enough. Also tried another monitor. Now I own a samsung qled tv which is true hdr. Very happy with gaming quality.
