An incredibly well suited every day carry folder for general use.
I am a minor cutlery enthusiast whose interests lie primarily in practically useful blades as opposed to showpieces. A trustworthy, sharp knife in your pocket comes in handy every day. I've been carrying my good ol' Spyderco Endura 4 for the better part of two decades. That's how much I love it. But now, it has been supplanted in my pocket. The Hogue Deka caught my attention for a number of reasons, and it surely doesn't disappoint! Here's why it's my new go-to for the next.. however many years. This knife provides an adequately sized blade in a smaller form factor. This knife offers a deeper pocket carry, being quite a bit less obvious and more comfortableThis knife is constructed to be considerably lighter in weight. Part of this is due to omitting a full-length steel liner along the sides of the handle. However, the benefit in weight for an EDC knife eclipses the deficit in overall strength.I have come to realize the Wharncliffe blade profile is most useful for my general household needs, so I replaced my Spyderco drop point. The blade consists of CPM Magnacut steel, which caught my eye as a mid-priced, well-suited blade material that is well-received by the enthusiast community. I had great luch with my VG-10 Spyderco, and Magnacut should be tougher with even better edge retention.I've always been a fan of the crossbar blade locking system, which facilitates one-handed open and close with a flick of the wrist. Still, this particular knife is a bit trickier to flick than others, and you must check to be sure the blade has actually locked in the open position. It is fully ambidextrous with the pocket clip, locking bar, and thumb studs available on both sides of the knife.I rarely purchase a knife and use it out of the box before sharpening the blade to replace the manufactured edge. I just prefer a finer edge. The Hogue Deka arrived sharp enough that I felt no need to improve it before first use. I'll save that for resharpening later on.

Razor sharp from factory. Excellent blade geometry. Superb action.
Everyday carry. Liked because of the blade steel and action. Excellent100% value. Weight super light, easy to carry. Lock is rock solid.

Magnacut awesome, everything else cheap 🤢
Don’t get me wrong I am all for stuff being super light, but hogue sacrifices blade play and locking mechanism stability, for it being light weight….idgaf man they were trippin’ on that!!! Real talk, you’re gonna have to buy some secondary Titanium scales, as well as a Titanium back spacer for the Hogue deka V2…..just sucks that means you gotta spend $130 more, just to have it feel and perform right. Seems super shiesty in my book, and Hogue you are messing up not providing proper handle and pocket clips. 😩🤦🏻♂️😩
