Good short for the money
(Update)- So it's been about 3 years. I'm not sure if they've changed the sizing, as the size chart looks different now compared to when I originally ordered. So a medium might actually fit a medium frame now, and now that I'm thinking of ordering another pair, I'm not sure on the sizing again. Anyway, my point in updating is to say the shorts have lasted pretty darn well. Really they are about the same as the first day I used them. They are my indoor trainer shorts, so don't get used quite as much as my outdoor kit, but they've been solid. I would buy again for sure. Just need to figure out sizing... again. Original review below. I was going to say I wasn't going to update to 5 stars simply because they still feel a bit cheap, but then I realized... they ARE cheap, so really no reason not to. So 5 stars now. Cheers. So, the first time I ordered I ordered the XL. I'm basically a 33" waste, with pretty large thighs. The thighs were my concern, as they measured even the max size for the XL. However, the issue is that while the leg bands were pretty tight, the waste band was, while tight enough, not that tight. So even though I held onto the XL pair, I ordered a LG pair to compare, and figured if they didn't fit I would just send them back and would probably not order another pair. So the LG are tighter on the thigh, but not so much that my circulation is an issue at all, and I don't have any discomfort. The waste band is tighter, which is nice so they don't creep down on rides as easily as the XL. Chamois: So the chammy, so far, is fine. When you're just walking around in them, it feels a bit like a diaper, as it it is pretty stiff and sticks outward from your buttocks a bit so it certainly doesn't feel all that flattering. On the bike, it feels fine. It's not as good as really high performance chamois spandex, but it seems a little better than the low end chamois from big manufacturers' lower end models. I'm not sure how the chamois will hold up over time, which makes me a little reticent to order another pair. That all said, the price is really great, and hard to beat. I work in a bike shop and nice spandex still cost me about 2x as much as these. Of course those are the premium models, so not a straight comparison I realize. Just giving some context. If the chamois lasts a year, I'll be impressed and certainly ready to order more. I think based on the quality so far, these shorts get a 4 star rating, but for value, so far, I would say 5 star. For now I'll hand over a 4, and if the chamois holds up for a while, I'll adjust to a 5.

Functional decent shorts
Update: I've gone on five or six rides with these now, and of course I've washed them in between each ride, and they're holding up pretty well! The chamois scoots around a little bit, now, compared to when it was new - I guess it must be stretched out weird somewhere. But not too bad. Original review - still pretty accurate impression: Five stars are for decent performance considering the low price. FIT: I'm usually a medium or large in US sizes depending on the brand, but based on the reviews I got these shorts in XL. They fit perfectly. My waist is 34 in cheap big-box brands and 36 in more fashionable brands, 6'0" 205 lbs. My sit bones are 13.0 cm apart and the chamois padding on the XL was a decent width for me, with a 155 mm wide saddle (specialized Power Comp). EXPERIENCE SO FAR: It took a good 40 mi ride to break them in and get everything to form to my bum without scooting around, but then they were great. The padding has venting holes that are somewhat effective at breathing. I worked up a good sweat (lots of short steep hills) and stayed comfortable on a sunny 75 ยฐF day. I'm washing them now and will report back on how they hold up. One seam in the crotch looks like it's already starting to fray, though. No, they aren't as comfy or high-performing as expensive shorts, but if you want a cheap functional pair to destroy, look no further!

Well-made, stylish and affordable cycling shorts for casual riding
I ordered the size "L" based on the published sizing guide (waist: 84cm / 33 in | height 170cm / 67 in) and the shorts fit perfectly. The finish quality is actually better than I expected, particularly along the edges of the leg openings. The neon green visibility piping also looks very, very slick. I tried the shorts the day they arrived, on my 8.3 mile evening commute, and found them to be quite comfortable. Initially it felt as if the padding was situated a bit too far back, but once on the saddle it was just right. The 4-star rating is due only to the fact I was hoping the padding would be a bit more firm than it is. While I've yet to wear the shorts for an extended ride, I suspect that at > 50-60 km / 30-40 miles I'll be wanting firmer / thicker padding. But I own padded cycling undershorts for such occasions, and I suspect those will come into play with the SANTIC shorts for longer rides. Regardless, excellent value for money, particularly if you're a casual cyclist looking for affordable shorts for commuting or rides under 50 km / 30 miles.

Great shorts. I've used for a couple of years without disintegration at all.
Great shorts. I've used for a couple of years without disintegration at all. Very comfortable. The reviews you read about disintegrating, they put them in a hot cycle washer, which is really ummm not a smart idea. I'm a 50 year cyclist and I've tried all of them. Pearl Izumi used to be great and they are not anymore. And that's being generous. Here's something that's really, really, really good advice, go for a wider saddle, narrow saddles that kill the nerves ( in your perineum Leading to urinary dysfunction as well as erectile dysfunction), and don't make you any faster lol. A gel saddle with a cutout in the middle, order on Amazon, several different ones, find the one that's perfect for you, send the others back. There's much more to the ergonomics of sitting on a bike, but I can't go into those here.

Comfort and padding
The shorts fit correctly (size medium for 34" waist) and the chamois (padding) is comfortable. I like the bold colors in the hope I will be more visible to motorist.

OK for the cost
A few things about these shorts that anyone contemplating buying needs to know. First, they are Asian sizes so be sure to order up one or maybe two sizes. I wear a size L in all my more expensive name brand cycling shorts and had to go to XL with these that fit quite well. I was surprised by the material and seams which appear to be pretty good quality. However now to the two major negatives. First, while on a two hour ride the leg grippers kept pulling up and in essence, they rode up about 3 inches on my leg (exposing end of my tan line). Second negative is the chamois. Yes in the sitting area it is quite thick but that did not bother me as your buns are well protected and comfortable. However I wish I could same the same for my jewels. Not near as much padding in this crucial area and it did ride up creating a pulling and pinching feeling during most of the ride. That being the case I will probably keep them for my shorter rides only because of the low cost. If I had known of these issues I may not have bought them despite the cost. EDIT: sorry but these are going back. Main reason is how short the inseam is. I measured about 7 inches which is the reason they rode up on my leg so high. I need 9 - 10 inseams.

Comfortable shorts with good padding. Well made. Highly recommend
Update to earlier comments below on sizing in case of help to anyone: Per below, I originally ordered XXL - too big. Replaced with XL which has been fine. Large possibly might be even better to absolutely ensure padding stays in right place between me and seat while riding. With XL have to pull rear waist of the shorts up high on my back before rides - and occasionally also need to do so during rides if back of shorts have slid down a bit the XXL i ordered had tag saying "Asia XXL / U.S. XL". The XL tag said "Asia XL / U.S. L". The size at ordering seems to refer to the Asia size on the tag. fyi what i consider to be my "waist" size when i buy pants (36 inches) aligns with the Medium in the "Hip" row (not the data in "Waist" row) in the sizing chart for these shorts... โโโโโโโโโโ Great shorts. Comfortable. Good padding. Great customer service. Good value. Will order more. RE: sizing - After reading many reviews and looking at sizing chart, i ordered XXL. Unfortunately, XXL turned out to be too large and padding did not stay snug in proper place on my rear so that the padding in contact with seat - i.e. the area of shorts above padding is what in contact with seat - so no benefit from padding... All solved by getting the XL, one size smaller - though size chart and reviews had led me to believe XXL my correct size. I am 6 feet, 195 pounds, ~36 inch waist

In Terms of Size, Third Time's The Charm; Kinda...
Had to purchase three pairs (returned two; thanks Amazon) because the size was to small or tight, not so much in the waist but big time in the thighs. First bad was on me in that I missed the seller's note regarding Asia size vs. western or USA in my case; it's apparently a 1 inch difference with Asia (mens) clothing sizing being smaller... whatever. The medium was an oblivious no-go; again, my bad. So, tried a large. The waist fit okay but again, the thighs were WAY to tight. Many thanks to one reviewer, aka "An Informed Buyer" who posted a sizing chart with what at least for me turned out to be an accurate cross reference between waist/thigh measurements and the manufacture's named sizing; i.e, Medium, Large X-large, etc. In the end, the large had to be returned and exchanged for an extra large which is still a little tighter in the thighs than I would like but I can live with that. In terms of performance, it's all very good! Other than cycling underwear I've worn in the past, this is the first pair of regular cycling shorts I've purchased and am quite happy with the comfort, support and overall feel, even on extended or very hard rides. The padding's just right for me; my nether's aren't complaining. Edit:08/26/20 Recently ordered and received another pair of Santic's cycling pants. Not much to say other than 4th time's the charm this time around... all good.
