Densities have been helpful
As a Potter, I go through a lot of sponges, quite frequently. I most often use your basic, soft, yellow sponge, but I am absolutely loving playing around with these different densities.Depending on what I’m building or how (wheel vs hand build) as well as the firmness of the clay, the different densities have been far more handy to have available than I realized.Highly recommend experimenting with these if you haven’t before!

Not a good substitute for Mudtools sponges
The density and quality aren't even close, and these have fat, blunt edges so they aren't good for getting into small spaces like the tapered edges of the real thing. These are fine if you are running a big studio and want cheap stuff for students to abuse, but this production potter will stick with the real thing.

A lot cheaper and almost as good as the more expensive ones
These are definitely better than the round yellow sponges for pottery, but they crumble a little if you’re using them on groggy clay. Not as good as the expensive version, but a lot cheaper and still effective

My New Go To Sponge
My wife says: As a hobby potter I go through a lot of sponges so I was interested to try these out. I was surprised when they came because I was expecting something like the sponges that come with introductory pottery tool kits. Not so. These are so much better. When they come these sponges are stiff and about the shape and thickness of a large blue kemper rubber rib. They expand when wet to about a quarter inch thick and become flexible with the different densities having different porosities. They feel great in my hands for cleaning up my work. I don't throw on the wheel but if I did these would be a must have. I hope they wear well because they are going to see a lot of use.

Great sponges.
These sponges come compressed and easily expand and stay expanded once wet. They are good quality, very similar to another famous brand of them, but these are a little thicker. Each color is used for a different purpose. I use the orange for throwing and it works excellent. The blue is for shaping and the white is for smoothing. I use the white on all of my edges and my slabs when hand building. These are now my go to for quality and affordability.

Support the original small business if you can
I got this set for my pottery studio. These are the knock off of Mudtools sponges, which I also have. They are definitely not as nice as those ones but are still decent quality. Because I needed these for students for classes I decided to go with the cheaper version and keep my Mudtools ones locked away for my personal use. I still recommend buying from the original small business instead of this brand that’s knocking off their product, BUT, if you need a ton of sponges for students, this is an economical option.

Great sponge set for hobby pottery
This sponge set is a great hobby pottery set. It comes with three different colored sponges with different uses. They call come compressed little hard flat sponges but quickly puff up when soaked in water. They’re very smooth and are a good size and shape. I like how easily they clean up the surface of my projects and can be used to blend seams in poured ceramic green ware as well. They seem durable - I’ve only used the first of each kind and so far I haven’t needed to replace any.
