almost 22,000 reviews - WOW
THE TOUR is a standalone read with a happy ending. There are no sexy scenes or colorful language so any age can read and enjoy this story. Of course, it is set in Ireland but most of the characters in the story are American. The tour is places in Ireland that the bus/coach will take the passengers to see and enjoy. It is a motley crew. Some young, some old, some married, some single for one reason or another. It is a wonderful story as you can tell by the number of reviews. It is a feel-good read. I highly recommend it. At first, I was not sure I would really enjoy this type of read but it wasn't long before I could not put it down and ate my meals while continuing to read.Conor, 40 is the tour guide. He tells the story of what is going on with his passengers. He is a wonderful soul and a credit to Ireland. He is single and feels destine to stay that way until he gets a nice surprise. He works hard to keep his passengers happy and having a good time. He has been with his touring company for many years. He does well. The passengers are a very diverse group. A mother and teen son, a young couple, a widow, a professor, etc. Each with their own past and their own story. It is not long before you are caught up in their lives and issues. This is a must read. There is a little bit of everything in this story and you will enjoy all of it. I highly recommend it. There is a musical instrument mentioned in the story. I had never heard of it so I Goggled it. I even hit a site that had a gentleman playing the instrument and it was everything Dylan said it was. I learned something. Like most folks I have a small percent Irish in my DNA so naturally, I think of myself as part Irish! :-) Now I understand we aren't really Irish.I was not paid for this review. I am not a writer, nor do I know one. I am not kin to this author. I am NOT A BOT. I am a reader, and this is my opinion, nothing more, nothing less. 8/23/24.

Hallmark in Ireland
This book is a perfect read for people who like Hallmark movies; the story never gets heavy and problems get nicely resolved without harrowing fuss. It’s an ensemble piece of different people on a tour bus in Ireland. Conor, the guide, is quintessentially polite and accommodating to his tourist guests who all bring varying problems with them, and whose problems get nicely resolved by the end of the week.I give it three stars only because I prefer stories with more meat to them with more realistic character arcs. If you prefer stories with a more superficial gloss to them that makes for an easy read, however, you’ll give it 5 stars and have a great time discovering a bit of Ireland through the tourists’ eyes.

Light summer read
This is an enjoyable light read. The book is about a tour group in Ireland and the personal journeys of the tour guide as well as of the American passengers. A lot happens in just a few days.I am giving this work four stars because I think a few things could have been improved. Without spoiling the book, let's just say that some of the character stories were better than others. I found two of the characters to be completely unbelievable, with very abrupt and unconvincing character development. Everything was wrapped up just a little too neatly. If the author is going to have characters from the US, someone who is American or familiar with language usage in the US should proofread her work to make sure that what the characters say ring true. An American would not say "laughing like drains", "harridan", or "pram". It was a bit distracting.

Such a great story!
I love this story! Actually the stories of several people all brought together on a tour of Ireland. Lives woven together for good or bad. I will definitely be reading more from Jean Grainger. Very well edited. Best read I’ve had in a while!!

A feel good book
My kind of book. Maeve Binchy is a favorite writer and I was sad she passed. This book is very much like Ms Binchy’s. I love the character building and the style. It is really feel good book.

A great read!
This novel speaks of the best and worst of human nature - especially when on vacation, lol. I really enjoyed the Irish setting and getting to see different areas through the tour group & guide's perspectives. I went there with family years ago, so it's always wonderful when I recognize some of the locations. I love the different things that happen and all the twists and turns on the plot. I'm looking forward to reading more in this series.

An amazing combination of Ireland and travel
I love Jean Graingers books. This I found particularly good as it was a mix of Irish history, it's beauty and unusual travel stories. I'm waiting to read the complete series.

Outstanding!
A definite “ couldn’t put it down” read! An excellent writer highlighting the frailties of human nature. A very entertaining book that was a joy to read. Also encompassing the history of Ireland, which was very interesting. Am now hooked! Well done Jean!

An excellent tour in Ireland and Irish history
I really loved The Tour, by Jean Grainger. The characters are well described and sound real, and I got to like most of them. The building friendships between them are interesting to follow. As well as the description of Ireland, its past history, the way Americans with Irish blood see it. I couldn't put it down, but was sorry when I reached the end. The book reminded me of the late Maeve Binchy. I recommend it.
