SO HELPFUL!
It's good to read great literature in another language and have the English translation to hand when you get stuck.

Not only are the translations idiomatic (with only very occasional exceptions) but the stories are well-chosen to be interesting in themselves, and not just a dry exercise in grammar and vocabulary. I learned a lot, even after many years of chatting in French, largely because words came up that I rarely encounter in small talk, or imagine (wrongly) that I have understood! I can recommend this book to any anglophone or francophone individual wishing to hone their language skills.

Varied selection, with different levels of difficulty.
Liked these stories. Varied in length and style. Good way of learning new vocab and, in particular, new idioms.

Helpful book
The book has helped me in that it expanded my French vocabulary. I do think it important though that one uses a copy to note any new vocabulary.

Not really parallel text
Doesn't work as a Parallel Text item should, using Kindle on my computer. The French text is all in one place, and you need to look elsewhere for the English version, and that's not easy to find. I'm making no observation on the literary quality

This really helped my 16 year old son with french for his leaving cert, he is 17 now and is more confident than ever!

I like this book as the stories are set out one to a page with the dual text on the other. Ideal for the intermediate learner who wants to challenge themselves a bit more. Good size so carrying around is possible - like any good read!
