Ignore the instructions. You need to punch it to activate it.
I bought these for warming up my sleeping bag before bed time when I cannot use a hot water bottle. They get hot, but not as hot as the handwarmers and they don't hold the heat more than 30 minutes. Just as expected and perfectly adequate for what I want them for.And a plus compared to handwarmers is that these do not need oxygen to work and they reach top temperature within seconds. The minus are the misleading user instructions. I could not get the inner bag to burst and release the reactant liquid just by squeezing it. I had to lay it on the table and punch it. Mind you, I didn't punch it hard and recommend to do it only on a wipe-clean surface in case it bursts completely and splashes all over the place. Once I figured out how to activate them they are an excellent product. Also unlike some others brands, as they are hard to activate they are unlikely to do so when you don't want them to.

Excellent for use at home and out and about
I actually got these for my husbands football first aide kit but I use them at home and for the youth group I’m involved in. They are perfect for our and about as you only activate them when needed so can stay in your first aid kit for ages until you need them. They are a decent size to deal with injuries on most joints and stay cool for a decent length of time to actually make them worth worth using. Would recommend and would ( and have ) buy again.

Perfect little ice packs
I wanted to have a filled out first aid kit, just for the sake of being prepared, and so I wanted to get some ice packs that didn't require freezing, not to mention it'll be really nice in summer to just be able to pop one and have a cold pack.I would recommend when you try to "pop" the inner pack, don't use your finger tips, put it between the palm of your hands and press, you can put more pressure than you think to pop the inner pack and I've run over one of these with a chair wheel on accident and the outer packaging still didn't burst so that's a major plus.So far I've used these for a swollen knee, tooth ache (just holding it over my cheek) and to help numb the itching in an area and it worked perfectly for all these situations. How long it stays cool seems to vary on where you place it, if the area is already warm, and what you wrap it in but in all cases it lasts at minimum of 20 minutes which seems ideal.I'll definitely be buying more of these when I run out.

Hard to activate
I tried so many different ways to activate it. Followed the instructions, squeezed it, punched it, it is VERY difficult to activate. I think after about 5 tries I got it but it wasn't even that cold, just cool but definitely not cold enough for any pain relief.

Ideal for First-Aid bags for youth\adult football teams
Purchased this separately for a football team I used to run.HypaCool Instant Cold Ice Pack, Compact, Disposable First Aid Sports InjuriesAll arrived with no issues and had not been activated.Able to use a few in the first-aid bag and with it being thrown around\dropped, none of the bags activated by themselves. When it was time to use one, manual activation was easy and they lasted well within a normal Football match and at least an hour afterwards. No issues in any of the packs over a year in usage and also very handy to put into any first-aid bag.

They work, but difficult to activate and only last 20-30 mins
I only managed to get these heat packs to activate after seeing the instructions on some different brand cold packs which said to fold the inner bag in half and squeeze - as they’re nearly impossible to activate by just squeezing them normally as the official instructions stateIf you have any issues with your hands - do not buy these - it takes a lot of strength and time to activate these as the inner bag is ridiculously strongI originally thought I had gotten defective heat packs as I couldn’t get them to activate by following the instructionsThey do get nice and hot (not too hot, can apply directly to the skin immediately) - but they only last maybe 20 mins before they’re down to just slightly warm
