The device is easily balanced - whether reading a book, watching a movie, checking facebook, using Skype or WhatsApp. The body of the cushion is filled with fire retardant beads and the shelf part is filled with wheat. Wipe clean only, all the cushions have been lightly sprayed with fabric protector which may help prevent staining. The top loop that can also be used to store your reading glasses.
