500 of the Most Important Health Tips You'll Ever Need [Paperback]
I first noticed this book in a charity shop window and I was sufficiently intrigued by its title to take a look inside. I was particularly interested in the section concerning the health giving properties of fruit juices. One of my favourites is pomegranate juice which figures on the cover of the book. I promised myself that the next time I passed the shop I would buy the book and thereby contribute to the charity. Regrettably the book had been sold the next time I visited the shop but I found it on Amazon for a discounted price, so I purchased it.My reading of the section on fruit juices had an unexpected benefit. Just over 2 years ago I was involved in a car shunt accident which left me with an injury to my right leg+hip. I was seldom without pain in those 2 years and the book implied I might benefit from kiwi fruit (Chinese Gooseberries) which in Chinese folk law is a remedy for certain types of muscle injury. With nothing to lose I purchase 2 baskets of kiwi fruit (12 fruits) and ate them over 3 - 4 days. Within a fortnight my leg+hip injury made a startling recovery and continues to heal. I no longer experience the pain. Until eating the kiwi fruit I would swallow a cocktail of vitamins each day in the hope that they would be effective, but they were not. This book was therefore indirectly responsible for healing an old injury that defied a cure by conventional methods. I have a lot o be thankful for.The advice contained within this book goes further than just recommending dietary tips and it helped me to discover the secret healing properties of plants. I am currently experimenting with Papaya juice which has an entirely different benefit. I purchased my Papaya juice from Amazon because it is not available from most retail outlets.I have no hesitation in recommending this book.

What not to eat ... this peri-menopausal woman is feeling and looking so much better!
Excellent - since purchasing this guide, I know what to eat and, more importantly, what not to eat!I'm in my early 50s and, during December 2016, started with 'the change'. At the same time, I also had begun to experience more troublesome issues caused by having a lot of osteoarthritis in my spine, psoriatic arthritis and Meniere's disease.I am experiencing a reduction in health issues. In addition, the condition of my peri-menopausal skin has noticeably improved - instead of looking dull and uneven in colour, my skin has a healthier youthful glow and even colour. My confidence and energy levels have also been boosted by the knowledge gained from this book!

Wild claims, with virtually no backup to published science.
This claims to be a guide to alternative remedies for 200 complaints, and yet omits the source of most remedies, some of which stretch to dozens of ingredients, and offers no evidence to suggest why any one ingredient should be effective.Opening the book at random, I find suggested treatments for a tyroid gland that is over active. These include:Foods to avoid: Tea, Coffee, Cigarettes and chocolate contain caffeine, theoromine or nicotine which stimulate the release of adrenalin and make and overactive thyroid worse. (says who?)Useful remedies for an overactive thyroid: Vitamin-B complex, 1-2 grams of vitamin C, 400iu vitamin-E, 30mg Q10, 30mg Zinc, 200mcg selenium, 2mg copper, 500mg Tyroplex, 150 mcg Kelp, 1-3 tablets of Thyro Complex, all of these to be taken daily. Says who?Anyone with a thyroid problem would be better advised to visit their doctor, who will be able to prescribe a completely safe and provenly successful cure in the form of one tablet. The book is littered with suggestions that certain propriety compounds are useful, without offering a single shred of evidence why this should be so. And yet it "helpfully" provides details where these products can be purchased. On the whole, since it fails to back up almost all of it's remedies with any scientific evidence, and yet provides full details where the most bizarre of remedies can be purchased, this book's main aim would appear to be the subtle advertising and promotion of a large number of products that would fail to stand up to the most elementary scientific scrutiny. As such, the author and publisher might find it hard to defend prosecution by the Medicines Control Agency which prohibits the advertising of drugs direct to the general public.I cannot imagine why anyone should heed any of the advice in this book since it largely fails to back up with solid evidence any of the claims it makes. This book is written by a woman who has also written "Devine Intervention" - "On April 7th 1998, Sunday Times columnist Hazel Courteney, underwent an experience that was to change her life forever. She became telepathic, and began affecting electrical equipment. Most remarkable of all, however, was the realization that she could clearly hear spirits from the higher realms, and found herself receiving direct communication from Diana, Princess of Wales. By choosing Hazel, a journalist as her medium, Diana knew her messages of love and hope to the world would reach thousands and and empower people everywhere to fulfil their true potential. Sustantially revised and updated for the second time, this new edition includes further channelled messages and Hazel's reflections on Diana's legacy." Quote - Amazon.co.uk

Essential reading
This book came highly recommended by my doctor and I have to say what a fantastic investment it has been.Written in a manner that's easy for the lay person to understand and full of very useful information, this book is essential reading for any person who prefers to take responsibility for their own health and well-being using natural, more gentle alternatives as opposed to relying on pharmaceutical products which can cause serious adverse effects. This book is ideal for people like myself who suffer from allergies and multiple chemical sensitivity (MCS)

Essential reading for everyone
Having read an older edition, not sure this is that much different but I cannot recommend this any higher if you want to take the path to a healthy life, take responsibility for your own health and wellbeing and reduce dependence on pharmaceuticals and on GP's who typically treat symptoms rather than the actual cause of illnesses. I made that leap and there is no going back, I would go as far as saying that every household should own this book. Many common and not so typical health conditions causes are clearly explained and approached from dietary and supplement angles, with a wealth of useful information to help you to help yourself.

A brilliant book from a health point of view
This is the best book for health advice I’ve ever read I call it my health bible. I have bought this book as presents for friends and everyone raves about it. The advice it gives and the vast health issues it covers is brilliant. No home should be without this book.
