This set has helped my 8year old daughters handwriting improve alot. She was always a neat writer and we practised alot when she first learnt to write at age 4 and she enjoyed writing and took pride in her work and I feel the extra practise at home helped her.However this year, in primary 4, they now must write in joint handwriting and that's when the problems started. Everyone else in our family is right handed and i noticed that because she is left handed she forms her letters differently e.g she does her letter 'o' clockwise. I didn't realise when I was teaching her to write that doing it 'her own way' would become a problem later. She finds it difficult to join her 'o' and several other letters and has now had to learn to write her letters 'the correct way' to enable her to do joint writing. This had become very stressful and frustrating for her because she kept making mistakes and this took her longer to complete her work and she was getting pains in her hands from writing so much. Her teacher had been telling her that her writing needs to improve and to be honest her work had become very untidy because she was always making mistakes and the rubbings out looked untidy and the rest of her work was rushed. (I spoke to her teacher and explained the problem and told her that she got praise and rewards last year because her writing was so neat and well presented. I also said how she had been frustrated and upset by it and now her teacher doesn't mention her writing as much when it's not as neat. I told her we would be practising her writing at home too).I came across this writing set whilst looking for left hand writing practise books and my mother in law said she would buy it as a stocking filler for my daughter. I thought it was quite expensive but it really has made a difference to my daughters writing so is worth it. She finds them alot more comfortable to hold and therefore her hands don't ache as much, this has made it easier for her to "relearn" how to write her letters and to write neatly in joint writing.Her favourite is the blue pencil that you click the lead down on but the whole set has been great for her. The left handed sharpener is particularly good too. My daughter could never sharpen her own pencils (we only had 'normal righthanded' ones) and they always ended up chipped and cracked and then the pencil became useless because it was broken. She was very suprised that she can (for the first time) sharpen her own pencils.This whole set has made a huge difference to my daughter and I wish I knew about it sooner because it would have saved alot of distress.I would highly recommend this set to all left handed people and I will only buy these lefthanded products in future for my daughter.
