INXS: first formed in 1977 and remained with exactly the same six-piece line-up,until the tragic death of their charismatic,flamboyant frontman - Michael Hutchence - some twenty years later - in November 1997. They first came to my attention in early 1986,with their,then current single - This time (not included on this compilation) - receiving a lot of airplay on (BBC) radio one at the time.on the upside: the other singles from the excellent - Listen like thieves - album; Title track,What you need - and the excellent - Kiss the dirt (falling down the mountain) ARE included on this one CD - INXS 'The very best of' compilation - 2011 release. Radio friendly,commercial leaning songs; Need you tonight (original - not remixed version),New sensation,Devil inside,Mistify,Disappear and - closing track on TVBO...- Baby don't cry - are all representative of INXS's output throughout their time together,making music. Melody is represented with E.G. classic ballad - Never tear us apart - and Beautiful girl. The collection is quite career spanning; as it contains one track from their eponymous debut album from 1980: Just keep walking (on which,all group members receive a song writing credit),and Original sin - from 1984 album release - The swing.a good blend of familiar and lesser known songs included. Whilst all members of this sextet Australian rock/pop band were excellent musicians and songwriters; have to highlight Kirk Pengilly's outstanding saxophone playing on several tracks - Never tear us apart and What you need - especially - they had little success continuing with INXS - after Hutchence's sad demise.no one could replace this near god-like figure,it seemed.after all,the front cover features him as a lone figure,posing in only his,own inimitable way. Have to mention the blues tinged - Suicide blonde - superb harmonica on here. This compilation is a near excellent resumé of INXS' finest output of - on the whole - well crafted rock & pop genre songs - and is a fitting legacy to the art and memory of - Michael Hutchence - and Australian music legends - INXS - all much missed.(All other five group members are all still alive - at time of writing - by the way). N.B. have to mention other group members I've yet to name check; Andrew,Jon and Tim Farris and Gary Garry Beers - excellent drummer,guitarists' and bass (guitar) players' - respectively (I think🤔). P.S. excellent fold-out inner sleeve containing; b & w and colour band shot photos,track listing and full song writing and release dates credits'.also excellent sound quality throughout,despite a fellow reviewer's concerns, somewhere out there!

Great compilation of songs from the timeless rock band INXS & their charismatic lead singer Michael Hutchence. Their music had a raw energy & feel with some absolute classic tracks that still sound current today 30 years on. My favourites in no particular order; Need you tonight. Mystify. Suicide Blonde. Disappear Never tear us apart. Beautiful girl. By my side. New sensation & Baby don't cry. So many great tracks to remind us how good they were. If you get chance to see their 1991 Wembley Gig 'Live Baby Live' with a packed stadium absolutely bouncing, you will see them at their peak.

Got this after watching an INXS rockumentary & hearing Paloma Faith's cover of Never Tear us Apart and being reminded what a fantastic song it is. I prefer the original with Michael Hutchence's voice. It's got to be one of my all-time favourites. There are so many good songs on this collection - what a great band - such a shame their career was cut short.

Muy buenos temas. Los más antiguos se escuchan con más potencia, se aprecian muy bien los graves Una de mis bandas favoritas.

Cumple muy bien este CD original, se escucha muy bien, excelente fidelidad, sin quejas y disfrutando los éxitos de esta increible banda!

Raccolta essenziale di un gruppo di grosso successo forse sottovalutato. Ottimo pop-rock, l'originalità è forse dovuta al fatto che sono australiani. Musica di qualità con tante hits passate in radio.
