I rarely buy new phones that often.However, this was well worth the price.My main concern was security updates, to prevent losing access to important financial apps. Storage is more than adequate, and the camera is great. With a lovely vibrant screen.If you're looking for a good midrange smartphone. This is a great starting point.

Got this for my girlfriend, she loves it! Everything she needs from a good camera, good battery life and good speed, all for under £180. Has 2 SIM slots which isn't mentioned.

This phone is tremendous value, and you get an awful lot of phone for not a lot of money. The screen is OLED and is really sharp, and great for watching video on. The black are properly black, and the colours are deep and glorious. Images really pop out, and you can forget that you're watching on a relatively small screen. The speakers are functional and about average, but as you get a proper headphone socket then you can attach some decent headphones and you get fantastic sound as well.Battery life is pretty impressive. You can comfortably get two days or so use out of this phone, and it supports Xiaomi's 'Turbo charge' so with a suitably powerful charger you can get to 100% from empty in 30mins or so. It doesn't support wireless charing, but has a USB-C port as is standard these days.The camera is excellent, especially for video. You can record in 4K at 30fps, or 1080p at 60 frames a second. There is a wide angle lens, and a macro lens. Images are sharp and really nice, and the multiple lens types give you a lot of creative freedom. I'm really enjoying using the phone just for the camera alone, it's really excellent quality.The fingerprint scanner is a 'just works' feature, and there is facial recognition that is reasonably reliable. As the fingerprint sensor works so well, and is integrated into the side power button, it's just as easy to pick it up and activate it as it is to use the face recogniser.The OS is Xiaomi's own flavour of Android, but you can install a launcher like Nova to make it work as stock Android if you prefer. There are a few pre-installed apps, but not enough to be annoying. Some ads pop up from these on the home screen, but it's easy to disable them.Apart from the now-unsual headphone socket, it also has a real retro feature in that it has an IR blaster. You can turn it into a TV remote control, which is surprisingly useful - especialy in the pub when the TV is too loud.Build quality is great, and the silver edging looks very classy. You can easily mistake this for a phone costing several times as much as it does. It's a fabulous phone, fast, snappy, great camera, looks good and has a headphone socket. Absoleutly delighted with it.
