Very good value for money when it comes to a regulated switchable low voltage low current power supply unit
Life has taught me many things and as someone like everyone who has a multitude of different gadgets with different input voltages there's probably a place for a switchable low voltage power supply unit in everyone's home who understands how they work and the difference between AC and DC because at some point you're going to need a stop-gap Power Supply Unit while you replace the one that's failed or wait for the one you mislaid to turn up. The Eagle 1000mA (not mAh - that's a typo as it's definitely not a battery, I hope!) 3-12V can supply up to 1A so that's 3 Watts at 3V and 12 Watts at 12 Volts. It's a lower current device which I've found more useful for low power electronic devices than bigger 24 or 36W devices which are more suited to medium sized electrical devices like radios or speakers. It's regulated too which is an absolute must.I've deducted 1 star because the V-Out drifts around a bit and it's not very clean but in a way I should add one back on because it's very good value for money. Don't let those put you off getting this because you're not going to get anything better in this price range. The truth is to make a clean stable DC voltage costs money simply in terms of the components needed, money which I'd prefer was spent on the PSU I'm going to plug in once I turn this one off.It comes with 8 attachable heads to fit different power jacks, including one for USB - so make sure to reset the output voltage to 5V (or, advisedly, 3V) so that when you next come to use it you don't end up sticking 12V into your 5V USB device and then wonder why the screen's gone blank.

great product
ideal product for using with model railway led's . It has an red indicator light on the body to show its live. You can change the regulated voltage easily to optimise the bulb's brightness. an easy way to use led's without the need to put resistors in the circuit

Good quality multi purpose mains adaptor
A good quality mains adaptor from Eagle, a long established reputable electronics brand. Switched mode means there's no hot or bulky transformer. Useful to keep one or two in as spares, I used one for a Pure DAB clock radio and another for a DIY project. LED glows with power on. Screwdriver selector (tool included) on the underside prevents accidental voltage selection (3, 4.5, 5, 6, 7.5, 9 or 12V at 1 amp / 1,000mA continuous). They use the standard two-prong reversing connector to select polarity (almost always, the tip or innermost sleeve are +ive), and a decent range of DC jack plugs is included that fits most equipment. A recommended multipurpose mains adaptor, solidly made.

It powers but doesn't actually charge items
It'll light up a power light but won't actually put any charge into anything, I tried with various units, pwr screwdriver, task light and saw all at different voltage, all work with power lead ,none would carry on working with battery

Nice if powering non-sensitive circuits, it gives out more than you might expect :-(
I needed a 6V power supply for some sensitive audio work but could not find any linear supplies available. So I went the way of switched mode (reluctantly) and purchased the Eagle 1000mA. The output was set to 6V and looked fine until I connected it to the circuitry it had to drive and noticed sparking as it was connected! A Volt meter check showed that 6V DC was indeed being output but this was riding on 100V AC albeit at a very low current. It won't kill you but it placed quite a lot of noise onto the audio circuits it was controlling. So it was no good for me and I had to do what I should have done in the first place. i.e. Made my own linear regulated power supply which solved all problems.

Regulated thats the word
The word to look for in a power adaptor is REGULATED.I wanted to run a 12, 3volt LEDs for a project I'm building and this product fits the bill perfectly. If you use a Non Regulated adapter you get a spike in power when you first plug it in and this blows the 3Volt LEDs.A regulated adapter does not spike as its "Regulated" so does not blow the LEDs and is perfect every time you plug it in.Brilliant.

well built, good design - you can't accidentally switch the voltage like ones with the switch on top - very light which is great - bought as spare power supplies for my radio mics and other stuff - very handy to have 2 that cover various voltage.. excellent and for the price can't be beaten. regulated current too which is essential..

Brilliant
What great little power supply. Very impressed with and useful for a multitude of purposes. It say's the make is "Eagle" but on arrival and opening it up it was actually "Pifco", doesn't really matter it still does the same job. Excellent
