- Intro -The Replay Pro Yoyo has been making waves in the yo-yoing community ever since Gentry Stein used it to win the 2015 US National Yoyo Contest. I was really impressed by the videos that I watched demo-ing its performance and knew I had to try it for myself to see it if was really worth the hype.- Yoyo Design -This yoyo really appeals to me because of its understated design. There are no flashy logos or images on the side caps and the branding is small and discreet around the edges. A nice feature which I haven’t come across very often are the two little arrow markers on the inner edge of the yoyo, this helps to make sure that you’re always tightening the yoyo by the same amount each time you need to screw your yoyo back together. I really enjoy using yoyos with interesting colours and the Aurora Marble, model which I am reviewing, has really nice contrasting colours that pop when the yoyo is in motion.The yoyo comes with a CenterTrac bearing which helps keep the string centred on the bearing for more enjoyable play and longer spin times. For a plastic yoyo it feels really good in the hand and has a great shape with decent weight. The Replay Pro is made from a Polycarbonate plastic, which is know for its incredible strength, making it not only extremely impact resistance but also virtually unbreakable. As an engineer I always like to know what kind of durability I should expect from my toys and this makes me very happy.- Yoyo Performance -I own loads of plastic yoyos and none have ever felt as smooth and as balanced as the Replay Pro. The concentrated weight on the outer edges helps the yoyo spin with a lot of stability and the spin duration is really impressive. The shape of the yoyo makes it really easy to catch on the string and even allows for some quick off-axis finger spins due to the depressed caps. I found I was able to easily perform all my favourite tricks right out of the box. This yoyo easily out performs all of my previous plastic yoyos and even some of my cheaper metal yoyos in terms of handling, I’m really amazed.- Final Thoughts -The Replay Pro really pushes the boundaries of what a budget plastic yoyo can offer. At its price range it simply blows away the competition. It has become the yoyo I always reach for when I want to yoyo purely because it is just so fun to use. I would easily recommend it to seasoned veterans and beginners alike for its ability to do a wide variety of tricks due to its clever design features.
