Pretty In Pink (1986)

I liked it.

CLASSIC.

I have just pre-ordered this DVD, so I am reviewing the contents of the movie that I saw about 20 years ago (and have seen about 30 times on late night t.v. since then) - I'll review how well the DVD was done once I get it. But, I just couldn't resist adding this to my Listmania list of "my favorite movies"!!!I experienced my "teen years" during the mid 1980's, so of course I saw EVERY ONE of the Molly Ringwald movies when they came out - and I LOVED every single one!!!I often wonder what ever became of her - as she had quite a string of hit movies, and then just disappeared from the radar. I honestly hope to see her again some day, as I always thought she was a really good actress...Anyway, "Pretty in Pink" is about a teenage girl living during the 1980's (you can tell by the "great" style of clothes) on the "wrong side of the tracks". She lived with her father, who simply did not like to work, as her mother had left them some years earlier.She spends most of her time with her best friend "Ducky" - who's a really great guy, also from a "working class" family. However, there are 2 REALLY rich, good looking guys who seem to be interested in her. 1 of them is a MAJOR jerk, and all he ever cares about is "one thing" (I'm sure you know what I mean), so she consistently turns him down - which makes him EXTREMELY "pissed off". The 2nd guy seems to be a pretty nice guy, and she becomes enamored of him.Well, the "nice guy" finally asks her out & she says yes - only to be treated like trash by his friends. But, they try to continue dating & he eventually asks her to the prom - & she says yes.Will he show up? Will she be forced to go alone? Who will she end up with - Ducky or the rich guy??? I don't want to ruin it for you in case you never saw the movie, but suffice it to say that you will ALWAYS remember the ending to this movie!!! (I don't know of anyone who doesn't, and many of them last saw it about 20 years ago!!!).I would highly recommend this movie to anyone who enjoys teenage romance movies in general, or the Molly Ringwald gang in particular. This is a great movie, and much of it will still make sense to today's teens. In fact, if you grew up in the 80's, your kids might be around that age now, so you could watch it together - a family movie night...

He’s the main reason I bought this movie. Otherwise it’s pretty good.

This is one of the best 80s movies. Filled with Brat Pack actors.

Best movie ever

Well that's so "80's" for you .. I grew up during the Reagan years... My generation of kid's did not live in Chicago or where ever this was filmed ? Second there was the peer pressure to be "Liked", "Popular" or "Fake It till U Make it".. In my middle school years ..I listened to Prince ,Madonna,Micheal Jackson ,George Micheal and Frank Sinatra. Yes I said "Ole Blue EYES".. well that's another story .. I was more like Molly Ringwald's character ..except my parents were married and very ambitious.. Yes I had a crush on the popular boy in middle and High school. In middle school ..kids were more "Materialistic"..than they were when I was in High school. We had the same "Social click's".. that exist in every generation..Regardless of what year and decade you were born.. The only great thing about my era was..the Fashion choices..the hair styles,the music and ..we were kinda ..innocent ? Yeah right.. Teenage pregnancy was a "No-No" until 5 girls in 8th grade ..OOOOOOOoooH ..No! Lol.. I love this movie..and the message that it create's in your head .. You can choose YOUR ...Family,Friends and Future. Don't wallow in.."Peer Pressure .. Your never gonna see those "Clowns" again. Especially after you move on to 9th grade or graduate at 12th ... ?? I love Molly Ringwald's character ..because she's so independent and she takes life by the balls... She had her own car,attended classes,bossed her dad around ..still managed to get the "Prep,Yuppie Or the Rich boy" after all...that was said and done.. and that's how you end up in "Pretty in Pink"..!!

I LOVE 80's movies and this is one of my absolute favorites. I actually own in on DVD but who keeps one of those clunky players around these days. I purchased it again, a digital copy this time, so I can access and watch it when ever I'm feeling nostalgic.

Wer in den 80er-Jahren aufgewachsen ist und gerne eine Zeitreise in die Vergangenheit macht, liegt bei dem Film richtig. Typischer 80er-Jahre Jugendfilm.

Si vous souhaitez replonger dans l'univers des années 80, optez pour les films de John Hughes.Dans Pretty in Pink, une adolescente de la classe ouvrière tombe amoureuse d'un autre élève, issu d'une riche famille du coin. Alors oui, le scénario n'a rien d'original et vous saurez dès le début comment finit le film. Mais avec quelques bonnes copines et un peu de pop-corn, vous passerez un moment très agréable en compagnie de Molly Ringwald.
