Great texture and lots of surface area for little microbes to make a home, hold extra nutrients, and to fluff up soil structure. Remember that the first year you add biochar, it actually *takes away* nutrients, as it gets "loaded up" in all of the tiny pores. That's okay; the payoff comes in the following seasons to come. Great product; will buy again.

I used this for my all my Vivarium and Bioactive reptile enclosures. This is by far the best I could find anywhere for Horticultural grade charcoal. Bought multiple times and will again.

It arrived promptly. I’m repoting a couple of tropical plants and horticultural charcoal was recommended to prevent mold and other nasties, fungi etc. I decided to try Amazon when the hardware store didn’t have this item. Amazon did not let me down and I was happy to have it delivered promptly. I appreciated the written warning that the product is a source of arsenic and urged me to take precautions such as wearing a mask and gloves while working with the production hadn’t expected that.

I use it either to mix it with my soil recipe or to add it to the top of some plant pots to avoid fungus gnats problems.

I bought this because I saw the word Horticultural and figured this would be a great addition to my potting mix.It's odorless and absolutely no dust that I could see. I was hoping it would be a bit chunkier but I'm still completely happy and so are my plants!I'm attaching a photo so you can see the size of the pieces in the package. I may just stick with this size after all.
