Wow, so I’ve purchased these kinds of sets for years— it’s become a Hanukkah tradition for my family to roll our own candles—and this one was hugely disappointing on several counts. The colors were not nearly as vibrant as the ones on the box (or the ones we’ve bought in the past). The wicks were too short to reach to the bottom of the candle and still have room to light it! And the worst, there were only 24 candles! Hanukkah candles always come in sets of 44 because that’s the exact number you need for the 8 nights. It is super misleading to call them Hanukkah candles and only include 24. Now we need to buy more candles midway through Hanukkah! Plus, this set was just as expensive as those we bought in prior years with 44! Super disappointed with these.

I bought these for my kids (ages 7 & 9) as an activity we can do throughout Chanukah. They both declared that it was so fun. The colors are vibrant and beautiful. They burn virtually drip-free. I liked how carefully each piece of wax was individually wrapped. You can mold the bottom to stick to the menorah without needing to warm the bottoms. The wicks are pre-cut to the perfect length. I will buy them again next year!These come without the directions. Initially, they each crumbled a piece of wax until we learned a few things:• Go slow- the first roll should be very slow and careful• The wax should be a little soft before rolling- Our house is a bit cold, so it helped to heat the wax first for about 10 seconds with a hair dryer on the warm setting. We did this before each roll, and though it wasn't necessary, It made the experience more fun because it took away the worry over the wax crumbling.The 2 boxes allowed for a few mistakes.

Pros:- easy enough for our kids to assemble, but they still needed help - children ages 8, 6, and 4- colorful, unique craft idea for HanukkahCons:- we bought 3 boxes - first box had everything needed, second box was missing a few wicks, third box had no wicks at all. Luck of the draw which box you'll get. We had some wicks from last year, so we figured it wasn't too big of a deal and went on.- the candles don't burn evenly - some are regular, others an inferno (and this isn't because of the ones with different wicks we provided from the problem listed above) our son's hanukkiah was covered in melted wax from one "inferno" candle, and then the one beside it decided to go inferno and caught his hanukkiah on fire. It's ruined and if we hadn't gotten the plastic extinguished, that could have been VERY dangerous.- wax isn't really easy to cleanSummary:Don't bother.

We always make birthday candles on the eve of the child’s birthday. I bought this set because they were way cheaper than what I usually buy. Pros- Cost. Small size. No cutting the wax. Cons-These smell like the house is on fire on when lit. We had them lit for like 30 seconds and the smell was awful. I’m not convinced these are genuine beeswax. They smell like crayons. The color transferred onto the table during the rolling process. I think these are fine for birthday candles. Would not use in a Waldorf birthday ring or for any display purposes.

Love this tradition. Great for all age kids. My kids loved it when they were little and we're still doing it years later. Every year my kids make our Chanukah candles but remember you need to buy 2 boxes to get all the candles you need for the holiday.
