Top Dog GUN DOG PHEASANT SCENT - Dog Training Scent

Iv been trying to get my Chocolate Lab more interested in playing with a ball than a stick. As we live in rural Scotland she already can sniff out a pheasant in the long grass and heather. I put a few drops on the tennis ball and then popped it into a zip lock bag. The scent is musky but not over powering for us humans. I first started playing in the garden with throwing the ball in line of sight. I would letter smell the bag then throw the ball. She returned the ball every time. I did this for around 10 mins so not to lose her concentration. After a few games of this I then put her in the kitchen and hid the ball in the garden. Again getting her to sniff the inside of the bag and then getting excited to find the ball. Her tail was going like mad and she loved her new game. Every time she found and returned the ball.Now it was time to challenge her out on the hills. This time I put a few more drops on the ball and put it back in the bag. This stops my pocket smelling of pheasant. Again starting with throwing the ball in her line of sight and then progressing it to hiding it in the long grass. Before getting her to find it I would get her excited by smelling the inside of the bag and then sending her off to find it. The say that dogs brain releases endorphins when they are sniffing out scents. That is why you see happy hyper springers. Yes she still gets distracted by the odd stick or log, which I just ignore. So far I am having around a 95% return. So hopefully now I will not be losing tennis balls on a regular basis and keep her safe from playing with sharp pokey sticks. The cap of the scent is well fitted and closes well but I prefer to store the bottle of scent in a zip lock bag too just in cases. The bottle is 60ml and should last for ages as you only need a wee drop and you don't need to reply every time.

Up to now, the dogs haven’t been too interested. Going to try putting more on, but already dowsed a paint roller and a dummy. Hopefully be more successful next time.

Does exactly what it says on the bottle.Find it easiest to place the dummy/toy in a plastic bag maybe 5 minutes before use, my dog seems to react better to this method.

Our poodle loves this. We added it to a scent dummy and hid around house and moved to hiding it in the woods for him to find.If like me you buy it and are curious to what dead pheasant smells like DO NOT smell the bottle!It’s vile and made me gag but I still use it and hold my breath when opening the bottle because it’s worth it and Bertie loves to seek it out 🤣
