Royal Velvet is just that, soft as velvet.
I had the pleasure of staying in a hotel that used these towels -- so soft, and you just know how many dozens of times they'd be laundered, but one would NEVER know it. Didn't look used at all, the royal blue color still bright and vivid;, and the towel still so soft on the skin. I had to check to see what brand it was, Royal Velvet, and just knew Amazon would have them available because they have everything -- and they did -- and I bought one. They ain't cheap, but they're ever so nice and luscious. I'll buy more -- prob one at a time as a perk for myself -- and I've already told my daughter she'll be gifted with one sooner than later. In the meantime, happy bathing to me.

too lightweight and thin
I have other Royal Velvet bath towels but this one is so much thinner and lightweight so felt like this towel was not worth the price. Will have to go to a store and check them out in person.

Super soft. No shedding.
Have 3 sets. No shedding. Super soft and absorbing. Not sure why other reviewers found them thin. Plenty thick for me. Seems they have gone out. Glad I got some. Wanted another set. Too bad. Sorry to see them go.

Beautiful, soft but thin towels
These towels are very soft to the touch and look beautiful hanging up but they are kind of thin. It means that if you are a big man who is really dripping wet, while soft, you almost feel a need for a 2nd towel. For a lady, I think the softness of the feel and it's nice display value makes it a nice choice.
