useful and works stable with overload protection
had to return it as i needed 1200W.. but tested the unit, it workds well, tests the battery, shows load.. like it - got the 1200W unit from the same brand :)

Perfect for emergency use!
I ordered this for emergency use in case of a power outage as some are predicting. I already have a couple of solar panels and 300ah LiFeP04 battery. I attached the alligator clamps from the power inverter leads to the battery and turned it on. Next I plugged in our big refrigerator and it hummed to life...no problems. Then I tried our small freezer plugged in by itself and that worked well too so this inverter will power our most important appliances but not the microwave (we have a gas stove anyway. Now this inverter is only about forty bucks ($35 with a coupon) which is a good deal. It comes with an on/off switch which some don't. It also has two Type A charging ports for accessories like cell phones, lights, etc. Now in addition to the alligator cables they provide, you also get a cigarette lighter cord so you can use it in your car. Keep in mind if you use that cable that you will be limited to only about 250 watts because of your car's wiring. You can still get the full 500 watts by using the alligator clip cables hooked directly to the car battery. The best part of the inverter is the built-in screen on the top. Mainly it shows your source battery voltage and output voltage. You can also see remains battery power. If you use your car battery, do not continue using the inverter if the battery drops to 50% remaining or you will damage the battery. Just run the car for more power. I highly recommend this power inverter to have on standby for use in emergencies. It will be great for car camping too!

Not much power
I know for $40, I probably shouldn't expect much and that's what I got. I have a pickup truck with a cigarette-lighter port in the bed. My thought was I might be able to use this inverter to power some small hand tools in situations when I'm not close to an electrical plug. I tried a hand drill from my shop. It started to turn but probably made two revolutions before I got an E-1 error (low voltage). I checked the label on my drill and saw that it is 8 amps which means it draws 960 watts. The inverter claims 1000W peak power but obviously more than a couple of seconds is too long. I also tried a smaller drill I keep in the house (5.5 amps = 660W) and it had the same problem (of course, even 660W is over the 'continuous power' the inverter is capable of providing. I was able to plug a charger to charge a battery for some cordless tools but that's a rather inefficient way to charge batteries (converting from 12V DC to 120 AC then back to DC loses about 80% of the power). Still, I suppose people that want a power source for household appliances (for picnicking, tailgating or camping) might find this to be a useful product but I don't think I'll get much use out of it.

Nice 500-watt Inverter with voltage display and USB charging
This is a small 12 volt to 110 volt inverter. It is modified sine wave as most inverters are. So don't expect perfect AC power from it for sensitive devices. It is perfectly suited for charging devices like a laptop or batteries. It also includes two USB ports for charging a cell phone or anything else charging via USB. The fan cycles in and out as needed for cooling and makes some noise, but all inverters have a cooling fan. It is rated at 500-watts continuous power. So again, it's perfectly suited to charge a laptop on AC and a cell phone via USB. As a nice and relatively small inverter with a voltage display on the case, makes this inverter a good value for charging in your car.

Powerful, with Protections
(500W/1000W) This has everything I need, certainly enough power, with 2 AC and also the informative LCD. But it also has protections, which is nice, with 50A fuses high/low voltage protection, thermal protect, short circuit, and more. And the plugs are spaced apart so you can get 2 plugged in even if they're wall warts (probably depends on the shape of the plug though).

Can't even start my angle grinder when on
My Wen angle grinder is 7 amp, and it draws right at 537 watts at startup and draws 337 watts when running So a 500/1000-watt inverter "should" be able to start and run it If this inverter is turned on and I turn on the angle grinder, the inverter will cut off with an error code 5, which means short circuit, so I take it any induction motor is going to register as a short It will start the grinder if the inverter is turned off and the grinder is plugged in and turned on, then I turn on the inverter, and the grinder will start and run This is, to put it mildly, unsafe not to be using both hands on the tool when turning it on The user’s manual does not have the error codes listed; the only place you’ll find the error codes is in this listing, so save the picture if you’re going to buy the inverter The soldering where the wires connect to the clamps is about half of what it should be, in my opinion The inverter feels light and cheaply made 2 stars for looking good, and running the grinder that is once it's started No, I can’t recommend this
