The How to be British Collection

I love this book, I bought it for an Italian friend but decided to read this before giving it as a present. It so good, the antidotes of British people are so true and it makes us British laugh at ourselves which is a good thing as it shows we have a great sense of humour too. I will be buying the other books in this series for my other European friends, but obviously reading them first before giving as presents. My Italian friend loved this book it made her laugh, she was over the moon with this small gift

I bought this for an Italian friend who loves everything British. The quality and layout is very good. It's a spiral bound set of cards with various aspects of British life explained jocularly on the left and illustrated by a cartoon on the right. I'm sorry to say that I could only raise a smile at three or four of the jokes and pictures. I tried to like it, but most of it is pretty weak humour and it could be so much better. I'm also not sure whether it will come across well to a non-native English speaking 'foreigner' because of the style of humour, understatement etc. Nevertheless I'll send it to him and give it a chance!

I can't get enough of it! I always find something that I didn't notice the first time that I read it! I often use it as a reference to my friends if I want to describe the life in England! Brilliant - I also bought the second one

This is a lovely little booklet about Brits and Britishness. I shall put it in the guest room for the entertainment and education of foreign visitors.
