Then I came across Mizani products and read some very encouraging reviews, including watching some videos from other users, on YouTube. As anal as this sounds, yes, I did enough research to the point of documenting it - ingredients, possible side-effects, order of process etc.! ha! ha! Hey, after all, I didn't want to see my long tresses washing down the plug-hole all because I didn't do my homework and this product was not right for my hair!So, I purchased all the kit/products necessary for my first relaxer/'rhelaxer' session and dithered for a month before biting the bullet to try it and with great trepidation that it would cause my shoulder length tresses to break and be left with a very short bob.Wow!! I should not have worried. This pre-relaxer solution is amazing!! The process requires sectioning the hair, as you would anyway, in preparation to relax it and applying the Butter Blend Honey Shield, in layers, spreading it along the full length of the hair on just the previously relaxed hair and NOT the new growth, before moving on to applying the relaxer. Now, because the product is quite runny, it would be very useful if it came with a pump, as you need both hands to apply this prep lotion (if doing the whole job yourself) and as the bottle is quite large, it's a little cumbersome to keep lifting it, but this is a very minor inconvenience. So I'll be transferring some into a smaller bottle with a pump next time.On the whole, this definitely protected my previous relaxed tresses from being over-processed and with the result of using the relaxer system too, I was amazed at the silkiness of my hair and if you're someone who prefers chemically relaxed hair to be straight as opposed to texturized, then this is the brand to use. I'm so happy with the results, as my hair is manageable, more shiny/glossy with the use of the other products - the d'tangle conditioner leave-in milk and the Thermastrength style serum (which I've never quite managed to achieve before with some of the other products I've used as good as they are, this surpassed them); completely tangle-free and I had barely any shedding of hair during the relaxing process.I'm sold on this brand and the fact that each bottle has an additional 'Step' guide so the products are used in the correct order for the process. This, of course, can change as no-one knows your hair better than you. :-) With that said, the Butter Blend Honey Shield and will remain as part of my relaxing regime and I highly recommend it. I was surprised to see the consistency of the product as I normally get it when I travel to the US. This product is normal a thick clear gel like consistency that is not runny. When I poured the product on my this white grainy mixture came out instead of the expected original product. I have therefore disposed of the whole bottle as I would not want the product to touch my skin. It Is recommended as a pre-treatment for relaxing or coloring your hair but you can also use as a conditioner too. Please lleave it on for 15-20 minutes under a plastic cap and rinse out. Your hair will look healthy with a little bounce but not too soft for styling.
