Nice for the price but wiring is a nightmare
I have been playing and messing around with guitars for around 30 years and this is the first time I have ever attempted to build one (kit or not). I think this guitar has some great potential and I really did enjoy the process of sanding, painting and putting it all together...until it was time to wire it. The diagram appears to be straight forward and I've never been one to have trouble following a schematic in the past. Well I followed this one and it came out a dud in the test. I'll be taking it to my neighbor who is a luthier to take a look at it and try to see what I might have missed. It would be nice if Solo had better support for this part of the process.

My son put this kit together and loves it.
My son put this kit together and loves it. I did the wiring and he did the rest. A great project for a 16 year old. The nut did sit a bit high and we had to remove it and sand down the groove to get the action set correctly, but for the price I wasn't expecting perfection. My son loved the natural wood and just applied mineral oil after sanding. He has gotten a lot of questions about it and loves telling people about building it. It may be a bit of a challenge if you've never done this kind of thing, but there are tutorials out on the internet for any kind of set up help you would need if you are willing to research and study the process.

Very nice selection of woods, but, the electronics were not my liking. If I had received the component pieces un-wired it would have kept me from throwing them out and buying a new set of components. Overall very happy, although more attention should be paid to the headstock cutting, a bit sloppy.

Great kit for any one to build.
This kit was fun to build. It takes a lot longer than you think. But the overall finished project was great. Next will probably be their LP kit.. but who knows?

I think it turned out pretty good.
Little more work than I thought it would be. But still a fun project.

COMPLETE DISASTER!!!!!!
I spent 190$ on a QA nightmare. None of the holes are placed even close to being able to fit either the bridge or the tail piece in the proper locations. I tried to redrill the holes to fix the mistake but that only resulted in a guitar that is impossible to intonate. Not to mention that the adjustment screws for the pickup height adjusters were completely stripped meaning I had to go buy stopping nuts to keep the adjustment screws in place, and I am even missing the bolts to attach the neck to the guitar. I expected to run into some problems with a guitar kit but these are completely unacceptable.
