No need to stop in to receive this item, it slots through the letter box.Quality is good for the cost. It appears to be quite robust and moves well. Other calibrated rim turns to work on an ordinance survey map.Well pleased.Great purchase, and well worth the money.I recommend this seller.

I bought this compass for the children that have developed a compass-obsession since they watched Pirates of the Caribbean. So it’s currently pirates costumes every day, lots of treasure hunts and the occasional “aargh, me matey”. They were very pleased with this compass. Albeit, it more or less pointed north (with a small degree deviation compared to my digital iPhone comparison) ...but NOT, I repeat NOT, to those things you most desire - i.e. not in the manner that Jack Sparrow’s compass operates. Personally I’m quite glad that this feature wasn’t included.So its a very traditional compass. It is somewhat sturdy. But I’ve told the children to handle it with some care. I still reckon the flip lid will soon tear off during one of their rough pirate brawls. Nevertheless the top is made from plastic, not real glass, which makes it somewhat more safe to use it as a dress up accessory.Would I recommend this compass to adventurers of all sorts and explorers that plan navigate around the world - but only if there are no other alternatives!. Then again, I didn’t expect to receive highly accurate and sensitive navigational equipment for the 7 GBP I paid for it.

A great little Compass. Probably not the best or most accurate, but for telling you which way is north, and giving you your heading it works fine. It has a nice fob style case to give it some mechanical protection against knocks. Good value for the money.

It's ok. It looks quite classy until you open it and them it just seems a bit plastic/tacky. The compass itself is literally made of plastic, but hopefully you catch my drift. As I say, it's ok, I'll use it, but rightly or wrongly I thought it might be a little classier. I've just checked the price and it would be safe to say that you get what you pay for. Actually, it's good value in fact and would probably seem quite impressive to an under ten.

Another 'alleged' compass that deserves no stars at all. I am a bit of a compass freak. I own about ten and I'm always on the lookout for the best in its field, be it orienteering, sailing, trekking, or just plain toys or amusing gadgets. Now, what is the point (no pun intended) of a compass in which the needle possesses no magnetism? At all! This cannot be that difficult to manufacture. You can do it right now, in the comfort of your own home, by stroking a sewing needle with a magnet, and this supplier can't even do that. This compass is potentially dangerous. I good compass has literally saved my life on a good few occasions, and made life easier in many more (like getting lost in London). I think this is the first time I have said this on a review, but this item should be removed from the Amazon site.

It's a brass pocket compass. It's shiney, fits in your pocket and points north. Exactly what you'd expect! I'm guessing the brass won't be overly durable, but I think an item like this looks better if its a bit battered and worn!

This compass was so bad it literally made me self harm. I have fallen into a deep depression and my new psychiatrist says I am a "long term project"

Seems to work well, protected nicely with the pull down front. Takes a little while to "settle".Decent size and easy to read dial, which I was hoping for with my eyes!Would have been nice if cord or something was fitted, (so it could go around your neck ) but thats no big deal really, I've fitted one myself.Cant wait to use it on my walking trip later this year, after thoroughly testing first of course.
