DAS Terracotta Air-Hardening 500g Modelling Clay, For Professionals & Hobbyists

I bought this clay for a weekend craft project with my kids, and it exceeded my expectations. It’s soft, smooth, and very forgiving — perfect for both beginners and experienced creators. Pros: • Soft texture, easy to mold • Doesn’t dry out too quickly while working • Holds fine details well • Minimal cracking after drying • Safe and non-toxic — no strong odour Cons: • Can be a bit sticky without a silicone mat • Slight colour fade after drying (if not sealed)

Bought half kilo for my daughter's school project. A lot of clay, easy to use, not as messy as I thought will be. Due to the very wet weather I've decided to bake the finished pieces on a low setting for about 40 minutes, the items are not completely dry however they are holding well. Definitely will buy again and fully recommend this clay, ideal for school projects and arts and crafts with kids.

It's good value for money, my dislikes is that the clay is a little chalky and almost has little fibres like paper maché. It also doesn't stick to itself (using slip score stick) very well which is annoying. However it is a good and cheap product and easy to wash 👍

Good modelling clay

I used the terracotta das to mend a very large pottery pig! It had large bits missing and no ears and was in 2 halves. When I had moulded the ears and a large hole on it's side I found that on drying it was stuck on solid. I could sand it down too. Having glued the halves together i could smooth das over the join and later sand it down. I then coloured it with acrilics. I must add that the pig was not glazed only coloured with oxides.I don't know how well it would work on a glossy surface.

For the amateur user who does not possess a kiln, this is a more authentic-feeling clay than Sculpy. The fact that it is air drying means one doesn't have the hazard of over-baking as with Sculpy. When rolling out it is best to wet the rolling pin to avoid sticking and moisten any surface on which you place the cut-out prior to sculpting. Be warned, it can be messy and the terracotta colour stains indelibly so wear some protection. My only gripe is that it it isn't easy to recombine pieces into a new ball; that is to say it doesn't blend back together well into a solid lump as normal clay does; Sculpy is better for this. When drying I recommend laying out on foil and turning regularly - an airing cupboard is ideal for drying, but keep away from clothes!

First one came in with a small tear in the bag. Which made the clay around the year hard. Company immediately replaced the clay and now I am happy with this purchase as well as with the customer service.
